But why is Kaner's Drunken Antics all topical again and whatnot?
I would imagine because Stan Bowman finally made a comment about it, not that it was much of a comment.
"We discussed it with Patrick. We've handled that internally. We're obviously disappointed with how it played out and Patrick is aware of that fact. At this point, it's a private matter. Out of respect for Patrick, we're not going to comment further. We're going to look forward."
Seems to me, from a PR standpoint, making a statement at this point is doing more harm than good. I'd think most people have put it well behind them. Most of us remember mostly because of what fodder it is. :)
That's what I'd think too. From reading the article it came up on a conference call that was ostensibly about the Hawks resigning Johnny Oduya and Jamal Mayers. I'd imagine Bowman didn't have much choice but to say something. It looks like he kept it as brief and circumspect as possible at least.
Makes sense. I guess I had overlooked the fact that there wasn't much of an official statement at the time, what with everyone I know making statements themselves.
(Though this keeps giving me ~thoughts based on a story I read so long ago I don't even remember what fandom it was for - where one character (the perpetual fuck-up with a heart of gold) kept being reminded of some dumbshit thing he did, and it kept making it WORSE (because GUILT!) until the other character (gruff-but-lovable-deep-down) was all HAVE A SPANKING STOP BEING STUPID FOR NOW YOU ARE ABSOLVED.) (This seems like a logical solution to this situation and someone should make it happen.)
