You're right! Bah and humbung, I thought I was on to something.:) And I loved that scene between Boone and Locke, too.

See, I don't leave myself enough time to ponder all these things, but your thoughts are fascinating to me, especially regarding characters' nature and growth.

As for Desmond, I believe if the island sunk in 1977 in the parallel universe, then his boat never got caught in that magnetic storm and he never crashed there. Which could mean he completed the race and won Penny back, as intended <3

how unstoppable would they be if Jack and Locke go to the Island as firm allies instead of at odds?

!!!

Now I really want to see this. I'm so invested in the parallel universe already. It has that constant bittersweetness to it, and I'm just incredibly drawn to the inherent tragedy of what was and what could be.
