I watch stuff that's not about angels or time travelers sometimes.

Let's talk about Arrow! Mostly because I have a shiny new Det. Quentin Lance icon (even thought I suspect based on the candles it might actually be of Harry Dresden but WHATEVER, I am bad at icon making.) I've long had a soft spot for cops who are great at their jobs but bad at their lives so Det. Lance rising to the top of my favorites list should ( Read more... )

i love this show

Aaaaand this is where I demonstrate how much I suck at recognizing actors out of context, because I didn't even realize Laurel was blond-Ruby.

I don't know DC very well, so I suspect a lot of the references are slipping past me, but it's a fun show.

In fairness, google's what told me Kelly Hu's character was China White; apparently she's from the Year One mini, which makes a certain amount of sense. (I'd thought she might be Lady Shiva or Shado or Cheshire. DC has a lot of female Asian assassins, is all I'm saying.) Basically it's a good rule of thumb to google any name that sounds especially ridiculous; that's how I found out Felicity Smoak (the blonde hacker) was originally a Firestorm character.

(And John Barrowman's character is listed as Well Dress Man on IMDB! It's like I'm watching Heroes all over again!:)

Wait. Renee is not in NuDC? *rage*

Haven't been keeping up with Arrow, but that stuff between Ollie and Thea... not sure if I pleased its apparently surviving. ugh.

Not last I'd seen? There was a hint in Batwoman that she might be around and still the Question, although since Vic is also the Question with his stupid new backstory I don't know how that would make sense. *throws up hands*

I mean, the show's not going there but I know fandom. People are gonna ship it. I'm holding out hope that Deathstroke snatches her as revenge and we get a Terra storyline.

I think I had heard this and blocked it out... IDK. that makes me unhappy. And every time I feel like I should start seriously reading comics again, I hear stuff like this and go grrrrrr. (okay Marvel's Fearless Defenders may win me over... we'll see)

Just the fact that it's noticeable enough to be considered is... ehhh. Like with Wincest, I can understand where it's coming from, but I don't have to ship it myself.

That'd be cool. I personally would like a well done addiction or AIDS/HIV story line. NOT holding my breath there.

DC Editorial's choices baffle me and have done so for ages now. And every time I think I can be blase about their nonsense they trot out something like Phantom Stranger and Question being part of the TRINITY OF SIN and I have my head in my hands again.

There's been the ongoing subplot that Thea's overdoing the drugs and partying, so we'll see. (She IS Speedy, after all!) It just seems like a waste to have Deathstroke and not use his arguably most famous storyline. I'm just hoping they manage to make whatever they're doing with Merlyn interesting, because man, is he boring. Maybe JB's character will wind up being his dad or something.

I'm really all about the Lances and the Ollie/Dig subtext, honestly.:)

So far, the show has really impressed me. The writing has foiled my expectations again and again. It's already a lot smarter than Smallville to me.

I don't like Det. Lance right now because I think his character lacks the depth and complexity we see in characters like Moira and Walter.

Laurel has been weak to me, but she really picked up in the last episode.

Digg is far and away my favorite of the supporting cast. He so totally has Oliver's number. And he's a badass in his own right.

I can totally see a Oliver/Digg ship. I'd call it Digger.

I've actually seen Digoli on AO3. Which sounds like a pokemon to me, but I don't get to pick the pairing names.:)

Honestly, if anyone's been underwritten it's Merlyn so far. If I didn't know who Merlyn was in the comics I'd be wondering what the purpose of the character was - considering they way they've developed Ollie/Dig I don't know if you could even say he's still Ollie's best friend. I hope they do something interesting with him and fast.
