I assume this is the fic James was being difficult with? I can see why, the boy never does emotion well. Well done to Alex for getting through to him. Lovely atmospheric piece.

Beyond difficult. Thankfully Alex matches him in the stubborn department, otherwise I'd probably still be banging my head against a wallwriting.

Yeah, well, the guy went through a lot (canonly) that we didn't see. There would have been an inquest and as the man-in-charge, he'll have gotten a lot of flack. He would have had to talk very fast and very loud, not just to keep his job, but from facing possible charges. I've little doubt that he held himself partially responsible, on top of the grief and anger he felt. No matter how hard someone is (and he is and I wonder where that comes from, though that's a different subject for a different day) there is only so much they can take. Poor guy needs a break before he does.

So I'll see about more. He's out of the situation and with someone he trusts, and I think he feels a little... safer. As in, there's no one else to hear or see. Plus now Alex realises what he's internalising, she's not going to let him off easily. It still might take me some time to eke it all out of him. *wry smile*
