Till There Was You
It was the same blanket they had sat on yesterday and coincidentally also the same one Norway had slept under the previous night. The basket was mostly empty now save for a box of strawberries and a couple of cans of sparkling wine (Finland was quite proud of them, they sold almost better than cider).
The heatwave would continue, said a lethargic woman's voice on a small, orange radio and indeed, the sun was hot but the lake water was still cold and presently a small, friendly fight was going on there judging by the splashing, giggling and screams. By the sound of it Finland seemed to be winning.
The basket looked a little forlorn, as if it were missing out on something fun and was now waiting for the people to return. A half-eaten sandwich was in danger of being claimed by a wasp who had just a moment earlier examinated Norway's skirt and found it inedible, tried for the straberries but failed to make its way under the closed lid and buzzed around lazily and aimlessly because truth be told even the wasp was not feeling very hungry now. It was simply too hot for eating.
Somewhere nearby voices were muffled into a kiss.
