Depressing, isn't it, how the Enlightenment and Marxist thinkers were so mistaken when they thought that humanity was on upwards progression? Human beings are just as dreadful now as they ever were, and they probably always will be.

Yes, it is very depressing. I try not to think too much about the lack of basic human progression, but there's me studying history... Heh.

Hehe, I know what you mean. But at other times the question annoy me for their stupidity! And yes, exacerbates is a good word :)
