This may just be me...

My imagination has a tendency to run rampantly wild but I'm starting to think that all networking sites are secretly conspiring with each other to confuse the hell out of me.  I swear There are new ads, features and formats every time I get onto the internet ( Read more... )

If you think you have more weaknesses than strengths, you're either miscounting or you just haven't discovered some of your strengths yet.

Or maybe that's just what I tell myself.

Anyways, do tell about the automotive repair! What are you going to be doing? Anything fun? I gotta order the headers for my baby soon so I can get her inspected. I went to take her to the store the other day even though the inspection sticker's expired... It's been raining here a lot. Turned the key, revved the engine a bit, and hear my boyfriend (who is standing in the middle of the driveway) say "Wow!" Apparently revving the engine expelled the water that had gotten trapped in the mufflers. There were these neat spray patterns out about 6 feet from the car.

Actually the recent heat wave put plans on hold until later this week since it's been so damn hot. Someone busted a window out of one of my dad's Hondas so I'm going to pull the door panel off remove/replace. We get little gangsters running around and such. My Rav also blew a head gasket, well that's what we hope, I don't think there is any possible way it could be the engine. I also need new brakes and to fix the cruise control. Most of the complex work shall be done by my dad and nephew as my skill level is much lower than theirs. I shall be grunt labor.

What model car do you have?

My baby's an '88 Mustang convertible. J bought her for me to work on so I could learn about cars, but he has this long list of things he doesn't want me messing with. Including anything safety-related, and anything that involves messing with the engine itself (including taking it out to replace the headers). I've done really basic stuff, oil changes, tune-up, checking engine grounds.

He agreed to let me rewire her myself, but my mama doesn't want me doing it in her driveway, so I have to wait until we have our own house. J says 6 months on that but I'm hoping it's soon enough that I can redo the wiring before winter hits. Once I redo the wiring I can put a new radio in, something that won't short out every time it rains. That, oddly enough, is my only complaint about the sound system; the stock radio in that car turns up louder than J's reliable and much newer Accord.

Yeah I can hear the safety related! I have assisted with brake jobs before but if I were to do it I'd definitely want supervision. A lot of the males in my family are mechanically inclined at least. I believe that everyone should know how to do routine maintenance on their vehicles. Changing oil and such things just aren't that hard ( ... )
