Kyoshi is the Avatar before Roku -- you can see that when Aang calls up the last four Avatars in the end of the third season. She is freakishly longlived. Then again, Azulon was born the same year Aang was, so it may be that strong benders are all freakishly longlived and healthy (see also: Bumi).
I also heard that nearly an hour were cut to save time in converting the movie to 3D, including the entire Kyoshi Warrior scene.
(Then again, I have words about how the creators chose to spell some of their names. In their first episode, I thought Azula's friends were Mei and Tai Li until I saw the credits. Never mind that they can't stick to a name pattern, which could just mean that the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation were once several groups. I suppose the Earth Kingdom still is.)
I'll probably have to rewatch the Sozin's Comet special, but I think he was just calling on previous Avatars he'd been able to summon. If you look at the Room of Avatar Statues, I'm pretty sure it is NOT Kyoshi standing next to Roku, although the camera doesn't linger very long to see clearly. And Bumi seems to be an exception in almost every way, so I'm not sure if he really counts.
Yeah, I had a lot of the same annoyances with the film. Taken as a stand alone film, though, it was decent. I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered by the mispronunciations. :P
