Litter Pick-Up Angst

As a budding young environmentalist, I organized regular "litter pick-ups" of my local stream, dragging along my little brother and often a couple neighborhood kids. Toward the end of the 6 months we spent in England during my father's sabbatical, I turned ten, and the main activity of the party was a neighborhood litter pick-up. I understand...and agree that litter is part of life in a city, unfortunately.

Today, spent about 20 minutes cleaning up trash from the front and side yards. He then mowed the front lawn and went inside to shower and change before his concert.

He came out 45 minutes later to find a cup on the formerly clean front lawn.

Sometimes you can only shake your head and sigh.

Still, trash and all, we wouldn't trade our house for a house on a quiet cul-de-sac for anything: too little going on outside on the street, so people have a tendency to but into each other's business. We tend to like our space, so if more noise and traffic means more privacy, guess it is the price we'll pay, even if it is annoying at times.
