Wild Edible Fail

So one of the most common weeds in the garden, along with the delicious lamb's quarter is green amaranth. The leaves are edible, but I didn't find them all that exciting. But we are fond of cultivated amaranth grain, so I thought I'd see if I could collect a little, just as an experiment.

My partner David (it looks like you're lj friends already, but he has a habit of not introducing himself; he's orangebeaver) wrote about our potato digging experience yesterday. He's in the bath now, and I didn't even know he wrote about it until I found both of your entries on my f-list, proclaiming the wonders of the potato harvest. Makes me feel like an ass for saying, mind you with a stiff & sore back and a case of the grumps, "Hmph, potatoes. What an unglamourous food."

Sounds like you had a much larger harvest than I. It's easy to be excited and sentimental about something you spent 10 minutes on. :>
