SPN 3x09 "Malleus Malleficarum"

Feb 01, 2008 00:15

Since it's hella long, I just copied/pasted my post from another forum , so if there are certain things in here that seem uninitiated (like the first sentence!), that's why. Feel free to check out the forum; it's absolutely fantastic. Not very big, but  we have great discussions, and we're fairly sane. :) No character/actor bashing. Always a plus.

I should have been more specific: as far as demons go, the show has stayed fairly true to biblical theology. I completely agree with you as far as lore and legend go, but demonology is a whole other thing, and largely specific to Christianity ( ... )

hopped over here from the supernatural tv community post regarding episode reviews :)

THANK YOU for catching this comment;

"Amanda's clearly gone off the reservation." (Sam I KNEW there was something last night that REALLY pissed me off but amidst my Squee, I forgot. I think thats the only time I've ever heard a phrase on this show that REALLY pissed me off!

and awesome review :) it was waaaay more detailed than the one I could muster hahaha

and that other song was 'I put a spell on you'... but I dont think it was CCR who was singing it.. (they're the only ones off the top of my head who I know do sing it..)

Screaming Jay Hawkins sang "I Put A Spell on You" originally. I'm pretty certain that was the original 1950's version.

First, you don't know how happy it makes me to hear that you listen to CCR. :P And thanks for the title of the song; it was driving my crazy!

I'm glad you made it through the review! It was far too long, but I had a lot to say. :) Thanks for commenting.

Thank you so much for this well done review! I agree with practically all of it. I've been scanning the boards all morning looking for well thought out analysis of the episode and have mostly ran into bitching.

As for Ruby, and this goes back to Casey from Sin City, but Casey didn't know if Lucifer was real, but believed in him. I think Ruby made some sort of comment last night that she didn't believe in him. It could be the Demons she knew were all once humans and the higher level demons don't show themselves. Sort of like why Sam and Dean never see angels, it's all about faith and belief. That's why Dean doesn't believe in God. Boy, does any of this rambling make sense? I guess the point is, there is no right answer.

Bitching about what? I've been at work all day so I haven't looked around yet...I really hope it's not about Ruby, because frankly I've had enough of that talk. She's a character, move on, you know?

Your theory is really great. Someone else mentioned to me in a forum that Casey treated Lucifer as her God, which means that she believes in him but hasn't necessarily seen him. Goes along with what you're saying nicely; it very well could be that she just has no proof to back up what would be considered legend in her world concerning the original demons.

Thanks very much for the comment! Glad you read.
