I never thought to google Cartmel Masterplan. :P Thanks for the link! I adore Marc Platt, he is so wack and so fun... and when i read his novels I get a million zillion ideas, so that is good. Sounds like I need to get a hold of Ghost Light next. :)

I think Platt and Cartmel had some excellent ideas...for extended universe stories (and thence fan fiction). I'm really really glad that the backstory they created is not totally canonical just because I like the fact that we still really don't know who the Doctor is. I have the same feelings about the First Question...I'll be very sad if it's answered (and not only because it would suck if the Doctor's name is, you know...Johnny). I am all about the mystery, but my idea of mystery is the Doctor saying he doesn't know if he has a family (in The Curse of Fenric), not the Doctor turning out to be a person of the Time Lord trinity.

That said, I am totally looking forward to finishing Lungbarrow, which I started and then stopped when I realized it was totally going to screw up my ability to write this story. Before I found this link I had no idea that it was related to Ghost Light! GL is not my favorite Seven story by any means, but now I feel like I should go watch it again. :)

Oh, and if you haven't seen Ghost Light it's one of the few Seven stories available to stream online. It's free on Amazon Prime (not, alas, on Netflix).
