why do things have to suck?

I just found out my trip to NYC has been cancelled. That really pissed me off. I mean I know I'm sick, so the rest will be good.... but I was really looking forward to the trip :-( I've never been to NYC, and I'll probably never get the chance to do something like this again ( Read more... )

Maybe we'll see you when you do finally make it! Get well!

Okay wow.

No offense to you (of course) or any friends or aquaintences out there but people out East really need to get a LIFE. It's like this every year, snow comes across the mountains and across the midwest and then as soon as Washington or New York gets an inch, the papers headline BLIZZARD SLAMS NEW YORK, they close every school, cancel every event, and get in all these bizarre traffic accidents and just generally freak the fuck out. It's like, hello? Denver, Kansas City, Minneapolis, St Lousi, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo all had the same storm earlier in the week and we delt FINE! This wasn't the case exactly this year, but I can tell you that 8 inches of predicted snow would not have canceled such a trip here in the midwest.

The whole thing sounds retarded, Boston only gets 3 more annual inches of snow than Chicago. New York gets 10 fewer inches and DC gets 22 inches less! Yet, wow, every year, 10 "CRIPPLING" snowstorms "BATTER" the East leaving "HAVOC" and "CHOAS" and it's like um, okay, get over it?

Well, no offense or anything, but last year the East coast got hit harder than EVERYONE. Boston had over 2 feet off snow. Planes couldn't land, cars were buried, and there were many deaths. So, yeah it can be pretty cripling. I agree, alittle snow isn't harmful. but we aren't talking one inch, or two or even ten. we're talking about a yard of snow and ICE. that can be pretty bad. and last year they did a good job of clearing it quickly within a few days. it's just the firs few days where it can't be cleared.

You're so passionate about this topic. Interesting.

You answered your question yourself. We don't get as much so when we do get it in large doses, it's difficult for people to deal with it. Oh, and we're the east coast, didn't you know we were filled with drama queens by now?

Neener.

LOL I'm not REALLY passionate and I'm not trying to play the self absorbed Canadian here ("you call this COLD?? It's ALWAYS colder in Canada!!!") I am just annoyed because it seems like everyone follows this trend. My aunt out in Massachusetts calls and exclaims that their pipes have exploded but the plumber can't come because of the "blizzard" when 8 inches of snow fell overnight and by 10AM the primary roads had been cleared.

Anyway, I just meant that it seems to happen EVERY year, so I don't know why it shocks everyone each year!
