Thanks! I don't know why so many of these wound up focusing on lost loved ones in one form or another, but I'm glad they worked.

I'd thought about the chock before, and that the hand would have probably just stopped like that, or broken off. It's such a simple image that's indicative of so much sorrow and loss.

Thanks. I'm just glad it came across as plausible: I had this fear while I was writing it that JKR had addressed what happened to the clock somewhere, but I was too pressed for time to stop and do research.
