Kronos Quartet.

I am thinking in particular of their recording of Osvaldo Golijov's "Tenebrae," which I love. (And is actually the only thing of theirs I possess.)

As far as film soundtracks go, try Monster's Ball.

Try "Morning Passages" from the soundtrack to The Hours; I think it's by Phillip Glass. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but then I'm not really quite sure what you're looking for.

Radiohead? I'm listening to "Ok Computer" (again) and I specifically thought of a part near the end of the song "Paranoid Android."

Also Third Eye Blind's self-titled debut, especially "Narcolepsy" and "How's it Gonna Be".

*thinks*

Thomas Newman (various film soundtracks) does a lot of lovely contemplative stuff.

I like _Sundown: A Windham Hill collection_ for less massage-ish but-still reflective music. MP3 collection here: http://www.amazon.com/Sundown-Windam-Hill-Piano-Collection/dp/B00136LT8W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1238684012&sr=8-2

my favorite music with no lyrics is a group called Tin Hat Trio, kind of quirky folksy. also, there's a string quartet version of Radiohead's OK Computer that's good, and Chris O'Reilly does piano versions of their songs that are edgy/classical
