Table Templates

Mar 24, 2008 20:07

2016 I kind of doubt anyone plays tcgs on livejournal anymore (or uses livejournal... thanks social media), but just the same, I'm updating all the broken images. Just in case.

2010/2011? images are finally back up here; I did indeed lose my old domain so I had to buy a new one. I also had to buy a netbook, as the keyboard on my laptop went out. now that I have a place to host my images and can type, I'll slowly be working on updating table/card images in the live previews. if there's a specific one you want, poke me. I'll try.

and if anyone's asked for coding help in the past few months and not gotten an answer, I offer my apologies. I had about 400 emails in my inbox since January... real life has kinda sucked lately.

Rules/FAQ
✩ All of these table templates are free for use. You do not need to ask or comment before taking them.

✩ These templates are not restricted to anime_lj_tcg. You may use them for any tcg you wish. (Though I have to say, I'm a bit amazed at how many different tcgs these have been used for. It's a nice feeling ♥)

✩ If you want to use the backgrounds I've provided, please upload the images to your own hosting and don't hotlink mine! If you don't understand what I mean by this, please ask! I will be happy to help you.

✩ You are more than welcome to change the colours/modify the code/add a header/use a different background. Whatever you wish.

✩ ...Don't copy my trading terms. Seriously. It creeps me out a bit, haha. Write your own.

✩ I've added a little credit line to the bottom of the tables--it links back to this post for easy access--but you may remove it if you like. Crediting me is not necessary.

✩ I've coded all these tables using the Firefox 2 browser. I've not tested them in any other browser. Addendum: The colors_tcg set was coded in Google Chrome.

✩ A lot of these may not look so great/fit if you have custom comment pages enabled. I can't stand custom comment pages and always force ?style=mine where necessary, so this never factors into my coding. sorry. (and I use dystopia! come ooooon, I'm so old school :( I've been on lj since 2002, I can't give it up!)

✩ If you're having problems getting your table to work, you can check out the Troubleshooting section below, or you can leave me a comment and ask me to take a look at it. I don't mind helping out ♥ I wish I could, but on the off-chance someone needs help in 2016 or beyond, I just don't have the time anymore.

Troubleshooting
Help! My table is showing up really stretched out across the page!
✩ double-check that you didn't accidentally make the table width too wide. If you're trying to set it to 800, for example, make sure you didn't acidentally type 8000.

✩ your default resolution may be much lower than mine. I use a resolution of 1280x800, but if you're on 800x600 then my tables with a width of 900+ will be stretched on your screen. just change them and you should be fine.

✩ whatever your main table width is, make sure that your td width adds up exactly to that. if, for example, your main table width is 723, then divide that by three and your td width will each need to be 241, AND colspan=3 if it's only one column, such as the trade section. or if you're only doing two columns, then you'll divide by two or set your colspan to 2.

✩ I screwed up in earlier versions of the code--some of the table cells are lacking a specified width. every tag needs a width specified. otherwise, in certain browsers (such as firefox), unless your cards have spaces between them, the table will continue to strech on and leave the entire amount of cards in one row. I've since updated the code to fix this problem, you can either grab the new version or fix it yourself. the ones that are missing width are the ones with colspans of either 2 or 3. their width needs to be the same width as the table width. if you don't want to mess with it but want your table fixed, you can leave a comment with your table code, posted in between tags, and I'll fix it for you and give you the updated code back.

Help! I don't like the scrollbars in template six! How do I get rid of them?
✩ in most of the sections, you'll see a piece of code that looks like this:

[cards]

simply remove those
tags. in the case of the trade terms section, just remove the style="overflow:auto; height: 162px;" part, leave the rest.

✩ if you like the scrollbars but want them longer or shorter, just adjust the height number.

Help! My current decks keep dropping the fifth card down to its own row!
✩ ...to be honest, I'm not really sure what causes this one. it seems to have something to do with too much text overflow in the sections above it, so all I can suggest is to kill off a row of text.

✩ you can also try to increase the overall width of the table and of course each td to make them add up again. this seemed to work for me on table template 3, which originally had a width of 630 until I increased it to 700.

Help! My table is starting halfway down the page!
✩ Most of the time, this is because you've opened a or (...I can't remember which) tag somewhere and then didn't close it.

Help! LJ is telling me my card post is too big, but you have more cards than I do!
✩ LJ's posting limits seem to be based on character limits--basically, how many individual letters/numbers/symbols you have. I don't know the exact number, but it's pretty large. Now, most of you guys out there use photobucket to host your cards, but I use my own personal domain. This means that my card urls are going to be a lot shorter than the ones you get from photobucket, allowing me to fit in more cards.

If you've run out of space, try splitting up your card post into several posts--mastered decks for one post, logs on another, maybe even do like bittering and have your trade section and collecting section in separate posts.
