There are many different types of chains.
Whips and chains. The infamous set of chains that can’t be without the other.
But Kangin and Heechul never used those. Neither of them liked the idea of restraint. They wanted to rip at each other’s clothes, tug at each other’s hair, and claw at one another’s back.
Keychains. Kangin didn’t have one but Heechul did. So whenever Kangin passed a particular store, he would go inside, browsing through the racks of dangling accessories. He would surprisingly think hard as to whether he should buy the red one or the purple one. Or if he should get the egg or the mushroom. The hard thoughts and constant contemplating was always worth it though, seeing the bright smile on Heechul’s face as he pulled out his keys, immediately adding it to his mass collection of fluffy, round, bright, and other various keychains.
Silver chains. Heechul knew Kangin wasn’t much of a necklace wearer. Which is why he bought him a chain. On the chain was a silver dogtag, a personalized engraving on the back. Youngwoon. That’s all it said. No words of love. No pet names. Just simple.
And then there were chains to one’s heart. Neither of them would ever say this, but it was evident. The hushed hisses of passion, and urgency to touch the other’s body at night. The hours spent on deciding which keychain was the best. The simplicity of the dog tag was even a reminder that the two were linked. No words were needed to be said between them. These were enough to know that their hearts were chained together.
