Xabi and Barca - a happy ending?

Yesterday, the old rumours back from February resurfaced again, in form of an article in the Daily Star. I guess that everyone has already read that, but in case you haven't, go here.

There have already been loads of entries on that, most of them rants - of course we don't want Xabi to leave. You only need to watch today's game to notice that we do ( Read more... )

i think you are right about xabi seeing where we finished up in the league. xabi alonso is not jamie carragh or robbie fowler (and in some way steven gerrard; though not so much for this scenario). he likes liverpool, that i do not doubt but he is not in love with liverpool. he isn't a local boy who has an attachment to the club, he wasn't born there. fact is xabi will go home someday, whether it is this summer of not for another ten seven or eight years, who knows? but he will return.

if he has put off signing his contract over the sake of money; i would be so disappointed over this whole thing.

and yes on our scoring ability; that went out the window when benitez decided that steven gerrard should make way onto the right for momo " i can't pass or shoot to save my life" sissoko =P

Yes, Xabi will leave one day. I don't think it will be this summer - unless Liverpool fail to get a CL place - but one day the same fate as Didi Hamann's will await him and then he'll get back. It would be nice to see him again as the manager, though.

Momo simply isn't the right player for this kind of game. He's all right if we need someone to stop a very attacking midfield but not if there is no one who attacks. And his passes were way off today, though Masch's didn't impress me a lot either. The whole team seemed to be actually bored, they passed as if it were a training session!

i honestly hope xabi does turn out to be another didi; didi is practically a scouser now. i think most people have to stop and think if they hear didi in an interview now. you wouldn't even tell he was german.

i miss didi so =( all the lads too; he and carra were meant to be very good mates.

I loved it that you put soo much effort in trying to figure out the whole thing as we can put it now 'The Xabi Alonso will he stay or will he go saga?'
Yes, I think one day he will return to Spain but maybe not just yet. He relishes the challenges here and I've always read that he loves the club, he loves the city and he loves his teammates. His manager adores him and all of his teammates look highly upon him, even Carra rates him highly so yeah, I think he'll probably stay...he wants to win with Liverpool and if and only if he really decides to go, then I wish him all the best in life.

And if you see the pic at propaganda-photos, that smile and laugh on his face clearly shows a happy man, comfortable playing his footy here. So there.

and FFS we didn't win, dropped 2 more points and that just sucks!

Well, I've always liked analyzing people and Xabi's quite interesting material :-) Of course I could be completely wrong, I don't know him and can only judge him from what I see of him in interviews etc.

The sad thing is that you can't always believe players' statements saying "I love my club". They can hardly say that it's all right, but that there are better clubs. Though Xabi always seemed pretty honest. And yes, that picture of him is lovely - unfortunately, the best pics are from the warm-up and not of the match itself.

Don't get me started on today's game. Momo isn't the player who should play in this kind of game where we need a bit of creative passing. I do hope that we'll do better next season in the PL.
