Post-victory feelings

So, after having celebrated all day yesterday - neither that horrible second half from Werder Bremen versus Ajax (well, they're in the last sixteen at least...) nor my criminal law essay could disturb me - I slowly return to all day routine. Which means pouring on 140 pages about fraud and the prospect of cycling to library later on and copying ( Read more... )

Well, I only have them on my computer right now. English is only my second language, so I prefer having a beta look over them before I post them for the public to see.
I've posted a German one on a German page, so if you understand some German I can give you the link.
Or, if you leave me your mail address, I can give you an exclusive preview on unbetaed fics filled with horrible grammar!

Hello. I think I got here because you posted your fic at stevieandxabi. I think, maybe not. The thing is I started reading your jorunal and saw that you needed a beta. What's a beta suppossed to do? I've got a lot of free time on my hands and nothing to do to kill it.

And just so you know, you're not the only one who's a bit too fanatical. One of my friends actually registered here at lj to read about my life because all I talk to her about is football. I guess she'll be dissappointed when she sees it's all I write about, too.

Hi, a beta is supposed to read your fics and correct all your stupid mistakes. As English isn't my native language, I tend to mix up the grammar and so it's just useful to have someone native read through it. It just sounds better afterwards and if my beta gives me good feedback, I have the heart to post it on LJ or an archive.
But my original beta sent me the fic back (obviously - otherwise I wouldn't have posted it), she hasn't been able to correct it because of real life, and she's a really nice girl, so I don't think I'll really need someone else soon. But thanks for your offer anyway, I'll get back at you if I need another one :-)

About the fanatical bit - I phoned a friend today who asked me how I were doing and I replied "Oh, great, Liverpool won twice this week!". I could hear him shaking his head in exasperation :-)

Oh, I'm not a native speaker either anyway. If you ever need help I could try and help you, though. I used to correct native speakers' compossitions for school, once upon a time. If you need anything, just ask, I have no life so that won't be a problem.

Oh that has happened to me. Eventually I managed to just say the "oh, great" part because people were starting to stop asking me that sort of questions and just assumed that my mood was football related and they don't give a shit about that.

Mind if I add you?

Thanks, I'll come back to you if I need any help.

One of my old friends from home actually told me that I only wrote about football in my mails, so she wouldn't know anything about my life, but a lot about various players and matches instead!

Of course you can add me! *friends you back*
