I wasn't referring to the excitement about seeing women saving men when I mentioned misandry. I was referring to the sheer audience hate when the reverse happens. I really want to see kickass girls save the day too. It's just that I feel the backlash against the show and Moffat is unfair. The character of Irene Adler was never treated irreverently. If anything, she has more power and mystique here than in her canon form (granted, with more sinister motives).

I just can't help but feel there's a double standard when women-saving-men-->female empowerment and men-saving-women-->misogyny. But I agree. Perhaps this is disappointment over not seeing what we expect to see. Still an overreaction, IMO.

The Last Airbender will never not be an awful movie. The casting definitely did not fit the world they were trying to build, but I was prepared to accept the all-white cast if they were talented and charismatic enough to make up for their appearance. They weren't, and that only added to the problems of that "film". Idris Elba as Heimdall, on the other hand, was awesome. But I did hear a bit of fanwank over that casting ( ... )
