It wasn't as if she hadn't noticed... something was definitely different about her best friend. He was a bit more distant, and definitely more busy that usual. In fact, it seemed as though he didn't want to hang out with her anymore

"Hermione?" he asked, seeing her approaching him. She was his stepbrother's best friend but they rarely ever conversed, which he found odd.

"Is something wrong?"

"I just was going to ask you something like that," Hermione smiled, standing in front of Travis. "I haven't heard from your brother, and I was wondering if things were okay. He's been sort of blowing me off recently."
