Well we've decided to try something new and entertaining as a family unit. Guitar lessons. The boys are going electric and I'm going to look into an Accoustic electric. We found a few teachers who will come to the house so we can all learn together at the same time. This should be worth witnessing LOL

I know nothing of guitars.. but I'd totally suggest checking out craigslist.com for used musical equipment. I'm sure there's tons there!

It depends on the maker of the guitar, some accoustic electrics plug in like an electric guitar and others have on board controls. It basically gives you that deep warmer guitar sound amplified. I have to keep up with the loud boys ya know!

For accoustic guitars, "Guild" is one of the best. But if you're not looking to join a band the most important thing is feel. Some guitar have a high bridge, which means the strings are set higher over the fretboard. That can make it harder to learn as it requires more finger strength. I've been playing guitar hmm... 12 years now, so when you guys start I can come over and jam with you! ;-)

Guilds' are way cool! I however, didn't want to invest that in my first guitar. I played around with a lot of different brands over the past two weekends and today I bought something on Ebay (God help me).

I have a Seagull acoustic electric, that is brand new but has a knick on it, on its way. I'm not sure if the Knick will have an impact or not, I hope not, lots of people were bidding on it...
