problem is i think the author ignores the context of the last 50 years and the present. things like the riots can't be viewed as isolated events...
i could go into a bunch of post-colonial history but it's boring and this is livejournal.
so i have two points:
1) decontextualization ruins arguments (for example, do you think the riots would have occured as they did if abu gharib hadn't happened? if the situation in iraq wasn't as it is? etc)

and
2) it's hard to generalize 1.5 billion people.
