Book Review: The Gathering Storm

I'm going to try to be coherent here. I know I won't quite manage, but I will make my best effort.

First and most importantly: was it "good?"

Oh yeah. Yeah, it was good.Things happen. The pace is picking up. It's a return, for me at least, to the wonder of first picking up the earlier books, unable to stop reading, just - hooked. While I have ( Read more... )

made of fucking awesome, thoughts, fandom: wheel of time, fandom: book review, rambling

I also thought he was going to die! I'm making an all-out berserk run at the last three hundred pages so we can have a talkytalk about it soon.

I still find Rand to be a twit :P

I thought it felt different, but that could also just be because so much *happened*! (Remember that book where we only moved forward about a week... my god...) Tha attack on the white tower was fabulous, and Egwene facing down the Saechan, omg. It was cinematic.

I think there were enough Moraineiscomingback! hints to make even the most dense reader wake up.

I am not happy that Min saw Nynaeve knelt over a corpse o.0 *clings to OTP* Though Siaun/Byrne seem to be the new Nynaeve/Lan (and I do love those two too.)

The saddest part of the book was Verin :o

That is all of my random comments for the time being ^_^

slkd Verin, that made me - it makes so much sense, though, it is perfect. I've seen that theory floating around before and I bet whoever thought of it is really pleased with themselves right now!

And of course! Rand is a twit, but that is a large part of why I love him. Er.

I agree about Egwene facing the Seanchan. Someone needs to draw this. Seriously, it has such potential for epic! art!

Rand was glorious and insane and... akdgjofp. I fangirl'd like crazy (even more so than usual) over his every chapter.

Still waiting for some Rand/Galad action though.

...Of the platonic, brotherly kind of course.

Other than that... Egwene was pretty impressive, but Verin was completely epic.

And I'm dying to know what (if any) consequences Rand's channeling the TP will have.,

I feel ridiculous for feeling like the guy in the prologue was going to die. I have clearly read too much GRRM lately.

I had the same experience! I thought that guy was so doomed until I remembered that it wasn't ASOIAF.

Yes, that scene between Tam and Cadsuane RULED. Go Tam!

And wow, yes, Rand's journey in this book was amazing.

I think Semirhage broke so quickly because no one had ever dared to treat her that way before, so it really caught her off guard. Still, it did feel a little easy.

Of the Forsaken, there's also Cyndane, Moghedien, and Moridin left.

That song is amazing for Rand. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts, and like you I can't wait for the next book! :)

Didn't Cyndane get fried in Winter's Heart? And I really really want more Tam being kickass amaaaazing, because seriously, with that potential, how can you not! And more Tam and Rand, yes yes.

Rand was my favorite.

Semirhage is my pet Forsaken, so that's probably the reason it bothered me so. But yes, point about Moghedien and Moridin.

I think I'm going to have that problem with every fantasy prologue from now on, always, and that is a little sad, isn't it? XD We'll await with eagerness together, then.

...this comment may or may not make sense, I apologize. I am trying desperately to catch up on things I need to reply to and my brain doesn't seem to be quite existing yet...

The icon is the Japanese cover art, I made a bunch of icons from it a while back.
