DAUGHTER OF THE BLOOD

Dominant by Emilie Autumn
[instrumental]

I am Tersa the Weaver, Tersa the Liar, Tersa the Fool.

Isis/Osiris by Xandria
[I am birth - I am death
I'm an elusive symbol
for eternal come and go]

"What does it matter? She is coming. ...the day is coming when the debt will be called in, and the Blood will have to answer for what they've become. The Darkness has had a Prince for a long, long, time. Now the Queen is coming."

Façade from Jekyll and Hyde
[There's a face that we hide
Till the nighttime appears,
And what's hiding inside,
Behind all of our fears,
Is our true self,
Locked inside the façade!]

"The Realm of Tereille will be torn apart by its own foolish greed. Those who survive will serve, but few will survive. The Blood in Terreille whore the old ways and make a mockery of everything we are..."

The Unforgiven by Metallica
[New blood joins this earth
And quickly he's subdued
Through constant pained disgrace
The young boy learns their rules]

He could have told them the malignant tendrils that kept them enslaved had spread too far, and it would take a sweeter savagery than a man was capable of to free them. He could have told them there were crueler weapons than the Ring to keep a man obedient, that their concern for each other would destroy them, that the only way to escape, for even a little while, was to care for no one, to be alone.

Poison by Tarja Turunen
[I want to love you but I better not
Touch (don't touch)
I want to hold you but my senses
Tell me to stop
I want to kiss you but I want it too
Much (too much)
I want to taste you but your lips
Are venomous]

Daemon smiled that cold, familiar, brutal smile and settled next to her on the bed. "So you think I'm cruel." Her eyes were already glazing from the psychic seduction tendrils he was weaving around her.
"Yes," Maris whispered, watching his lips.
Daemon leaned forward, amused at how quickly she opened her mouth for a kiss. Her tongue flirted hungrily with his, and when he finally raised his head, she tried to pull him down on top of her. "Do you really want to know why I don't work up a swear?" he asked too gently.
She hesitated, lust warring with curiosity. "Why?"
Daemon smiled. "Because, my darling Lady Maris, your so-called intelligence bores me to tears and that body you think so fine and flaunt whenever and wherever possible isn't fit to be crowbait."

Jillian by Within Temptation
[I've been living for so long,
many seasons have passed me by.
I've seen kingdoms through ages
rise and fall, I've seen it all.]

Once, he'd been the only Black-Jeweled Warlord Prince in the history of the Blood, feared for his temper and the power he wielded.
Once, he'd been the only male who was a Black Widow.
Once, he'd raised two sons, Mephis and Peyton. He'd played games with them, told them stories, read to them, healed their skinned knees and broken hearts, taught them Craft and Blood Law, showered them with his love of the land as well as music, art, and literature, encouraged them to look with eager eyes upon all that the Realms had to offer - not to conquer but to learn. He'd taught them to dance for a social occasion and to dance for the glory of Witch. He'd taught them how to be Blood.
But that was a long, long time ago.

Moon Dance from Corpse Bride
[instrumental]

A butterfly. No, not just a butterfly. This was a huge fantasy creature that gently beat its wings within the confines of the globe. But it was the colors that stunned Saetan. Hell was a Realm of forever-twilight, a Realm that muted colors until there was almost no color at all. There was nothing muted about the creature in the globe.

Prostitution Is the World's Oldest Profession
[Go on, believe, if it turns you on
Take what you need ‘til your body’s numb
Prostitution is revolution
You can hate me, after you pay me
My submission is your addiction]

Using Craft, she opened the door before he turned the handle, and let the seduction tendrils flow from her like some exotic perfume. She opened her arms and smiled as the door locked behind him.

Imaginary by Evanescence
[Don’t say I’m out of touch
With this rampant chaos - your reality
I know well what lies beyond my sleeping refuge
The nightmare I built my own world to escape]

"You can't tell the difference between make-believe and the real world."
"I know the difference."
"No, you don't," Philip insisted. He rubbed his forehead. "These friends, these places you visit...they aren't real. They were never real. The only reason you see them is because you're not well."
Pain, confusion, and doubt filled her summer-sky blue eyes. "But they feel so real," she whispered.

Pain by Three Days Grace
[You're sick of feeling numb
You're not the only one
I'll take you by the hand
And I'll show you a world that you can understand
This life is filled with hurt
When happiness doesn't work
Trust me and take my hand
When the lights go out you'll understand]

Daemon opened Cornelia's door, closed it behind him, calmly tugged his shirt cuffs into place and then smashed his fist into the wall.
Lucivar felt the mansion shudder as the power of the Black Jewel surged into the wall.
"Daemon?"
Daemon tugged his shirt cuffs down once more. When he finally looked at Lucivar, his eyes were cold and glazed as a murky gemstone - and no more human.
Daemon smiled.
Lucivar shivered.

A Space Between by ThouShaltNot
[Me? I'm just the rain
Laid Billy to eternal rest, eternal rust
I soak the dust that covers him
And wait for all the others
They all have names]

Jaenelle shifted position on the seat and studied the bed of witchblood. "Did you know that if you sing to them correctly, they'll tell you the names of the ones who are gone?" Her eyes slid from the bed to study his face.
Daemon walked up to her slowly. "No, I didn't know."
"Well, they can." A bitter smile flickered on her lips, and for a brief moment there was a savage look in her eyes. "As long as Chaillot stands above the sea, the ones they were planted for won't be forgotten. And someday the debt will be paid in full.”

Dancer by Xandria
[She is dancing in the wind
Almost dancing everything
Every moment of her life
She is taking me with her
With the music in her heart
She is breaking every ice]

"Everyone knows I'm different. It just doesn't matter to some - and it matters a lot to others." A tear slipped down her cheek. "Why am I different?"
Daemon looked away. Oh, child. How could he explain that she was dreams made flesh? That for some of them, she made the blood in their veins sing? That she was a kind of magic the Blood hadn't seen in so very, very long?

Harder to Breathe by Maroon 5
[How dare you say that my behavior is unacceptable
So condescending unnecessarily critical
I have the tendency of getting very physical
So watch your step cause if I do you'll need a miracle]

Lucivar swayed, confused. Zuultah rolled on the floor, screaming, screaming. He tried to lick the moisture from his lips but something was in the way. He turned his head and spat.
For a long time, while guards pounded on the locked door and Zuultah screamed, he stared at the small thing his teeth had found to ease the hunger. At first he didn't understand what it was. When his flaccid organ finally slipped out of the orifice and he recognized the red for what it was, Lucivar lifted his head and let out a howling, savage laugh.

Are You the One? by Timo Tolkki
[Are you the one?
The traveller in time who has come
To heal my wounds to lead me to the sun
To walk this path with me until the end of time
Are you the one?
Who sparkles in the night like fireflies
Eternity of evening sky]

He didn't need to think about the steps. They were natural, sensual, seductive. The music caressed him, narrowing his senses to the young body that moved with him. Fingertips touched fingertips, hands touched hands, nothing more. The Black sang in him, wanting more, wanting much, much more, and yet it pleased him to have his senses teased this way, to feel so alive, so male.

Whisper by Evanescence
[catch me as I fall
say you're here and it's all over now
speaking to the atmosphere
no one's here and I fall into myself
this truth drives me into madness
I know I can stop the pain if I will it all away]

She shook her head more violently. *Let it die. Let them have the body. I don't want the body. This is my place now. I can see them all when I stand in this place. All the dreams.* Her eyes flashed. *What is real?* She demanded. *I see beautiful things. I hear them, I touch them with the body's hand, and they say bad girl to make up stories, those things are not real. I see bad things, cruel things, a twisted darkness that taints the land, a darkness that isn't the Darkness, and they say bad girl to make up stories, bad girl to tell lies. The uncles say no one will believe a sick-mind girl and they laugh and hurt the body so I go away to the misty place to see the gentle ones, the beautiful ones and leave them ice that hurts them when they touch it.* She hugged herself and rocked back and forth. *They don't want me. They don't want me. They don't love me."

Last of the Wilds by Nightwish
[instrumental]

Safe? He desperately needed to believe that she was safe, that she would come back. He started to cry.
Daemon clung to Surreal as she flew along the Winds, too weak to argue, too spent to care. His heart, however...his heart held on fiercely to Jaenelle's soft, sighing caress of his name.
Everything has a price.

HEIR TO THE SHADOWS

Edward Scissorhands Theme
[instrumental]

"Take the vote again," Saetan said too softly.
When First Tribune didn't respond, Second Tribune touched his arm. Within seconds, there was nothing in First Tribune's chair but a pile of ash and a black silk robe.
"Take the vote again," Saetan said too gently.
It was unanimous."

Caleb by Sonata Arctica
[Over the hills, under the sea,
Fighting the will, whole Universe
Why does a man driving a hearse
Live in fear, Gift and a Curse
Taking 'em out, taking 'em all,
Shooting the wall, over and out
When nothing moves, all's well,
A decision he can find a way to live with]

Daemon had been offered his freedom in exchange for killing Jaenelle. He had refused the offer - or so he said. But what if he hadn't refused?
A moment after he opened his mind and touched the bloodstained sheet, he was on his knees, spewing up the meager breakfast he'd had an hour before, shaking as something deep within him shattered.
Damn Sadi. Damn the bastard's soul to the bowels of Hell. She was a child! What could she have done to deserve this? She was Witch, the living myth. She was the Queen they'd dreamed of serving. She was his spitting little Cat. Damn you, Sadi!

Nothingness by Ophelia of the Spirits
[Take this breath from my body
Take this blood from my veins
You are the dawn of my destruction
Only nothingness remains
Take this flesh from my humble bones
Take this pleasure in my pain]

Resting one arm on the bed, Saetan leaned over and gently brushed the lank golden hair away from the too thin face. Her body was healing, but slowly, because there was no one inside to help it mend. Jaenelle, his young Queen, the daughter of his soul, was lost in the Darkness - or in the inner landscape called the Twisted Kingdom. Beyond his reach.

Tristan by Patrick Wolf
[Forever young
I come from God knows where
'Cos now I’m here
Without a hope or care
I am trouble
And I am troubled too
My name is Tristan
And I am alive]

"'Karla,'" she mimicked bitterly. "It's always 'Karla.' Karla's the one who's out of control. Karla's the one who's becoming emotionally unstable because of her apprenticeship in the Hourglass coven. Karla's the one who's become too excitable, too hostile, too intractable. Karla's the one who's cast aside all those delightful simpering manners that males find appealing."
"Males don't find that-"
"And Karla's the one who will gut the next son of a whoring bitch who tries to shove his hand or anything else between her legs!"

Escapist by Nightwish
[A nightingale in a golden cage
That's me locked inside reality's maze
Can't someone make my heavy heart light?
It all starts with a lullaby]

"How long?" she asked in a voice full of caverns and midnight.
He had to clear his throat before he could answer. "Two years. Actually, a little more than that. You'll be fifteen in a few weeks."
She said nothing, and he didn't know how to fill the silence.
Then she turned around to face him. "Do you want to have sex with this body?"
Blood. So much blood.
His gorge rose. Her mask fell away. And no matter how hard he looked, he couldn't find Jaenelle in those sapphire eyes.

Shine by Edenbridge
[The night is drawing on
But all the strain not told on him
And he won’t fall into the sleep of the just
To be a tumbler or a lonesome intruder
He is as good as gold and searching for trust]

Mist. Blood. So much blood. Shattered crystal chalices. You are my instrument. Words lie. Blood doesn't. She walks among the cildru dyathe. Maybe he was wrong. He turned round and round.

You Can't Take Me by Bryan Adams
[Don't judge a thing until you know what's inside it
Don't push me - I'll fight it
Never gonna give in - never gonna give it up no
If you can't catch a wave then
you're never gonna ride it
You can't come uninvited
Never gonna give in - never gonna give up no
You can't take me I'm free]

He had been in the salt mines of Pruul for five years. Now it was time to die.
In order to reach the fierce, clean death he'd promised himself, he had to get beyond Zuultah's ability to pull him down with the Ring of Obedience. It wouldn't be difficult. Thinking him cowed, the guards didn't pay much attention to him anymore, and Zuultah had gotten lax in her use of the Ring. By the time they remember what they never should have forgotten about him, it would be far too late.

306 by Emilie Autumn
[Morality plays
On stages of sin
The easy way out
Or the easy way in
I am still overglorified
My reasons to live
Were my reasons to die
But at least they were mine
Now I've freedom unbound
Cut the laces of life]

Making sure he had Daemon's attention, Lucivar stepped back and sheathed the war blade. "Killing you would be a kindness you don't deserve. You owe her every drop of pain that can be wrung out of you for the rest of your life and, Daemon, I wish you a very long life."
Daemon wiped his face with his sleeve, leaving a dirt smear across his cheek. "Maybe the next time we meet you can-"
"I'm dying," Lucivar snapped. "There won't be a next time."
There was a flicker of understanding in Daemon's eyes.
Something clogged Lucivar's throat. Tears pricked his eyes. There would be no reconciliation, no understanding, no forgiveness. Just a bitterness that would last beyond the flesh.

Just Call My Name (I'll Be There) by Blackmore's Night
[So many nights I sat here waiting
There were times I couldn’t go on
Still my heart was anticipating
It made me be strong
Made me hold on…
There were some calling me crazy
I’ve been accused of being naïve
But I don’t need no one to save me
Cause I got you, you make me believe]

Lucivar blinked. Swallowed hard. Finally remembered to breathe. "Cat?" he whispered. He raised his hand in a mute plea.
She raised one eyebrow and walked toward him. "I know you said you would find me when I was seventeen, but I had no idea you would do it in such a dramatic fashion."
The moment she touched his hand, he pulled her down on top of him and wrapped his arms around her squirming body, laughing and crying, ignoring her muffled protests.

Syringe by Emilie Autumn
[instrumental]

"Stay away from me," she panted.
Lucivar gritted his teeth and waited. She'd stripped down to a sleeveless undershirt that offered her skin no protection in rough country, but right now sharp pain didn't hurt as much as the constant rub of cloth against oversensitive skin."

Amaranth by Nightwish
[Caress the one, the Never-Fading rain in your heart
- the tears of snow-white sorrow
Caress the one, the hiding amaranth
In a land of the daybreak]

Having no other source of fuel, her body had consumed itself in its struggle to be the receptacle for the power within. Bones pressed against pale, damp, blood-streaked skin. He could count her ribs, could see her hipbones move as she shifted her feet. Her golden hair was dark and stiff with the blood that must have been on her hands when she ran her fingers through it.
Despite that, or perhaps because of it, her face was strangely compelling. Her youth had been consumed in the healing fire, leaving her with a timeless, ageless beauty that suited her ancient, haunted sapphire eyes. It looked like an exquisite mask that would never again be touched by living concerns.
Then the mask shattered. Her grief and rage flooded through him.

Beyond Time by Apocalyptica
[instrumental]

Time meant nothing as he lay there, curled in a ball, fighting to hang on to the glittering trail that led upward while everything beneath him pulled at him, trying to drag him back down. He held on fiercely to the memory of her voice, to her promise that she would be waiting.
The glittering trail, the star-sprinkled ribbon still led upward.
Daemon climbed.

Ain't Your Fairytale by Sonata Arctica
[Praying for the moon,
Hiding for the day,
These might be our last days...
I ain't gonna see you taken away...
Heading for the dawn,
Of our way of life,
You're welcome to give it your best try...
Look me in the eyes, oh, wolver,
This ain't your fairy tale...]

The eight unicorn stallions veered off before they hit the shields head on, but the power they were channeling through their horns and hooves created blinding-bright sparks as they scraped across the invisible barriers. *You come to kill. First you call us Brothers and then you come to kill. No more. NO MORE. This time, we kill!*

Inside of You, In Spite of You by ThouShaltNot
[I'm the world's mystique
I am the words you speak
I am language
I am hidden memories that you seek
I am the sun before you see me rise
I burn still when you close your eyes
I am the soul that never dies when flesh is weak
I am inside of you in spite of you
With strength and sacred grace
But for all you do
I'll carry you now
From this bitter place]

In the seconds before rational thought fled, his mind registered her hesitation, her uncertainty. It also registered the amount of jewelry she was wearing.
Lorn had gifted her with thirteen uncut Black Jewels. An uncut Jewel was large enough to be made into a pendant and a ring, as well as providing smaller chips that could be used for a variety of purposes. If he was estimating correctly, she'd taken the equivalent of six of those thirteen Jewels in with her when she made the Offering. Six Black Jewels that, somehow, had been transformed into more than black.
Into Ebony.

Dance of Fate by Epica
[When Darkness will reign and blind us all
Allegiance will blind us if we do not fall
We cannot tell when morning comes
Is there a choice to live another day?
It’s hard to find a new direction in your fragile life]

"Hear me," Jaenelle said, "because I will say this only once. I have made the Offering to the Darkness. I am now the Queen of Ebon Askavi." She pointed the scepter at the Tribunal's bench. A rolled parchment tied with a blood-red ribbon appeared in front of him. "That is a list of the Territories that yielded to Ebon Askavi. They now stand in the shadow of the Keep. They are mine. Anyone who tries to settle in my Territory without my consent will be dealt with. Anyone who harms any of my people will be executed. There will be no excuses and no exceptions. I will say it simply so that the members of this Council and the intruders who thought to take land they had no right to claim can never say they misunderstood." Jaenelle's lips curled into a snarl. "STAY OUT OF MY TERRITORY!"
The words rang in the chamber, echoing and reechoing.
Her sapphire eyes, eyes that didn't look quite human, held the Tribunal for a long moment. Then she turned and glided out of the Council chambers."

QUEEN OF THE DARKNESS

Prelude 12/21 by AFI
[This is what I thought,
I thought you need me,
This is what I thought so think me naïve,
I promise you a heart you'd promise to keep,
Kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep.]

*Is bad?* the large golden spider asked in her soft voice.
Jaenelle Angelline brushed her hair away from her face and sighed. Her haunted sapphire eyes narrowed a little against the early morning sunlight as she once again studied the delicate strands of the tangled web that she'd woven during the night. "Yes, it's bad. A war is coming. A war between the Realms."
*Can stop?*
Jaenelle shook her head slowly. "No. No one can stop it."
The spider shifted uneasily. The ear around the woman tasted of sadness - and a growing, cold rage.

The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars
[What if I wanted to fight
Beg for the rest of my life
What would you do?
You say you wanted more
What are you waiting for?
I'm not running from you
Come break me down
Marry me, bury me
I am finished with you]

For a moment, Daemon thought he saw the same fierce joy in Lucivar's eyes before it was lost in blazing fury.
Seeing the fury and remembering that the unfinished business between them could only end in blood being spilled, Daemon retreated behind the cold mask he'd lived behind for most of his life and started to walk away.

Whispers in the Dark by Skillet
[No, you'll never be alone
When darkness comes I'll light the night with stars
Hear my whispers in the dark
No, you'll never be alone
When darkness comes you know I'm never far
Hear the whispers in the dark]

Daemon stared at the faceted ruby in the gold ring. A Consort's ring. He'd seen that ring in the Twisted Kingdom, circling the stem of a crystal chalice that had been shattered and carefully pieced together. Jaenelle's chalice. Jaenelle's promise.

Nomads from Twilight
[instrumental]

"Lady Angelline." Saetan's voice rolled through the Hall like soft thunder. "I always knew we would meet someday to settle the debt, but I never thought you would be foolish enough to come here."

How Soon Is Now by Snake River Conspiracy (cover)
[You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way ?
I am human and i need to be loved
Just like everybody else does]

"He could almost see all the deep childhood scars reopening, bleeding. This was the final rejection, the final pain. The child had defied that rejection, had tried to justify the sparse love given only with conditions placed on it. The child had tried to justify being send to that horror, Briarwood. But the child was no longer a child, and the agony of having to face a bitter truth was ripping her apart.
Pain flowed with the tears as Jaenelle finally gave up the people she had once tried to love."

Weightless by Sissel
[And I'm weightless, falling in love
I am weightless
And I don't know why but I know
It's all right
All I can hear
Is my own breathing
Echo in my loneliness
If I could sleep
I would be dreaming
Of the sweetness of your kiss]

He wasn't thinking of seduction when his body delighted in how different the silky skin of her neck felt under his mouth compared to the robe beneath his hands. He wasn't thinking of sex when he opened his robe and then hers so that only the film of spidersilk separated skin from skin. Or when even the spidersilk no longer separated them. He wasn't thinking of sex when his mouth settled over hers and he sent them both sliding into dark, hot desire.
And by the time he found himself in bed, listening to her purr with pleasure while he moved inside her, he wasn't able to think at all.

Through the Fire and the Flames by Dragonforce
[On a cold winter morning
In the time before the light
In flames of death's eternal reign
We ride towards the fight
When the darkness is falling down
And the times are tough all right]

"It didn't take any effort to see the pattern, especially since he recognized it. Fifty thousand years slipped away as if they had never existed. It might have been Andulvar and Mephis sitting there, voicing their concerns about swift, seemingly random attacks to a man who had insisted that, as a Guardian, he could no longer interfere with the affairs of the living. He was still a Guardian, but he was too entangled in the affairs of the living to obey the rules the Guardians abided by.
They were going to war."

Our Solemn Hour by Within Temptation
[In my darkest hours
I could not foresee
That the tide could turn so fast to this degree
Can't believe my eyes
How can you be so blind?
Is the heart of stone, no empathy inside?]

"Then who is going to war with Terreille?"
Jaenelle turned around.
For the first time, they were seeing the dream beneath the flesh. Karla stared at the pointed ears that had come from the Dea al Mon, the hands with sheathed claws that had come from the Tigre, the hooves peeking out from beneath the black gown that could have come from the centaurs or the horses or the unicorns. Most of all, she stared at the tiny spiral horn.
The living myth. Dreams made flesh. But, oh, had any of them really thought about who the dreamers had been?
Karla quietly cleared her throat to ask the question she suddenly hoped wouldn't be answered. "Who is going to war with Tereille?"
"I am," Witch said.

Cold/Unlaced by Emilie Autumn
[instrumental]

Smiling that cold, cruel smile, the Sadist released his hold on Marian and Daemonar. The little boy hit the ground with a thump and began screaming. Marian landed on the stumps of her feet and fell. When she landed, her skin split, and...
Not blood, Surreal realized as she stared with numb, sick fascination. Cooking juices oozed out from those splits in the skin.
The Sadist hadn't just burned them, he had cooked them - and they were still alive. Not even demon-dead, alive.
"Lucivar," Marian whispered hoarsely as she tried to crawl toward her husband. "Lucivar."
Lucivar screamed, but the scream of pain changed to an Eyrien war cry. Chains snapped as he exploded away from the post, charging right at Daemon. When he had covered half the distance, a hard psychic blow knocked him off his feet, sent him rolling back toward the post. He surged to his feet, rushed at Daemon again - and was struck down again. And again. And again.
When he couldn't get to his feet, he crawled toward Daemon, his teeth bared, his eyes filled with hate.

Ghost Love Score by Nightwish
[instrumental]

A storm had been gathering all night - thunder, lightning, wind. Now, as dawn approached, the wind had turned fierce, sounding almost as if it had a voice. Lightning flashed. The wind howled.
Tersa closed her eyes - and smiled. "She is coming.

The Collapse of Laputa from Laputa: Castle in the Sky
[instrumental]

With a cry that was part defiant, part pain, and part fear, Lucivar let go.
Rage filled Daemon. Love drove him. He and Witch hit the Green web. He rolled, but he didn't have Lucivar's skill. They broke through close to the middle of the web. He kept rolling so that when they hit the Sapphire, they were close to the edge. He rolled the other way, wrapping her in the web's power.

Maximilien from Le Chevalier D'Eon
[instrumental]

Then he looked at Lorn and felt a flicker of uneasiness.
No. They had saved her. The triangle had saved her. She'd expended so much of herself, had risen so far out of herself she'd been plummeting back down, but they had stopped the fall. They had stopped the fall.
Lucivar came up beside him, close enough to brush shoulders with him. Saetan stepped up on his other side with Surreal close by.
Draca picked something up from the Throne's seat, hesitated, then turned to face them.
Daemon froze.
She was holding Jaenelle's scepter. But the metal was all twisted, and the two Ebony Jewels were shattered. Not just drained. Shattered. So was the spiral horn.
"The Queen of Ebon Askavi is gone," Draca said quietly. "The Dark Court no longer exists."
Someone began screaming. A scream full of panic, rage, denial, pain.
It wasn't until Lucivar and Saetan grabbed him and held him back that he realized the person who was screaming was himself.

The Swan Song by Within Temptation
[Is it a dream?
All the ones I have loved calling out my name.
The sun warms my face.
All the days of my life, I see them passing me by.]

She studied the wolf. Kindred do not doubt. They would sink in and fight for that dream with fangs and claws and never give it up. She would sink her teeth into the belief that Jaenelle was simply recovering somewhere private after preforming an extremely difficult spell. She would sink in and hold on to that.
For Jaenelle's sake.
For Daemon's sake.
And for her own sake, because she wanted her friend to come back.

Forgiven by Within Temptation
[You gave up the fight
You left me behind
All that's done's forgiven
You'll always be mine
I know deep inside
All that's done's forgiven]

"I knew I would have to do some things that wouldn't be forgiven. I knew it when you asked me to go to Hayll, but I did it anyway. F-for you. Because I was going to come back to you, and the rest of it wouldn't matter, B-because I was coming back to you. But you sent me there knowing you wouldn't be here when I got back, knowing..." He sank to his knees. "You said no sacrifices. You made me promise I wouldn't make any sacrifices. But what do you call this, Jaenelle? What do you call this? When I got back, we were going to get m-married...and you left me. Damn you, Jaenelle, I did this for you, and you left me. You left me."
He collapsed on the grass near the statue, sobbing.

Bare from bare OST
[I've never been this bare / I've never been so scared
I've never felt such honesty / Don't stop we'll never leave
A moment of such peace / Each of us standing bare
Still you are here with me / Knowing who we have to be
Know as you hold my hand / I hoped and prayed
We're forever you and I / That you'd understand]

"Daemon?" There was so much uncertainty in her voice.
"Hello, sweetheart," he said, his voice husky with the effort not to cry. "I've missed you."
Her hand moved slowly, with effort, until it rested against his face. Her lips curved into a smile. "Daemon."
This time, when she said his name, it sounded like a promise, like a lovely caress."
