Oh fanfic reviewers! What would the world be like without them? Too bad we'll never find out, since there will always be someone who will continue to read a story they don't like just to point out to the author that "You're wrong" and "I didn't like it". If it's not their kind of thing, I'd really like to know why they waste their time reading it in the first place.
At least they didn't flame you, unless "You obviously know ow to write, so how can you not know how to read?" counts as a flame. :D For serious, though, that's a pretty mild review considering they read it even after knowing they wouldn't like the pairing. It just goes to show that people have very different tastes and conceptions of what fanfic should do, and very different ideas of when it is appropriate to review and when it is appropriate to keep one's opinions to oneself.
I can sort of understand where the reviewer is coming from- Mat/Perrin is by no means my OTP- but honestly, the shippiness was really subtle and the fic was clearly set before they had met either of their wives. :P Come on, people, details!
P.S. I read it again to make sure I had my details right and I just had to say that it is very adorable. I love Mat and his "I'll have plenty of time to be responsible when I'm older" and Perrin's earnest "But what about next time? What if an apple isn't good enough?" It's so very them.
