I'm still dreading watching "Daybreak Pt.2" again with my bf, but I know myself- I'll do it anyway AND buy the the 4.5 set soon, AND watch the extended episodes... why are we L/K such masochists?? lol ;P
I know just what you mean about dreading the re-watch of it. Which is precisely why I skipped all the easy stuff and went straight to THE scene. Filmed scenes tend to lose their power if you view them repetitively and I figured if I treated it like the scene I was dreading most and didn't watch, it would always be this big tragic deal in my head and I don't want that. I want to start remembering the good times and hand waving the bad.
Plus, I HAD to know. I've been holding out hope this whole time that there would be more between K and L during the hillside goodbye in the extended episode. Now I can let go of that hope, too.
Thanks for sharing the experience! I am glad to know that there is no deleted scenes for the end of Daybreak... I don't need more heartache, no thank you. And even if I am going to get whole series for my birthday (it is in October!), I think I'll buy 4.5. I am a completist, and since I have all the individual sets... Besides, I want pilots back to back on the shelf :)
Isn't it funny? This need to have the complete set of things? I'm the same way. And yes, we can't have Lee standing all alone on the shelf can we? He's done enough of that :\
I felt exactly the same. I watched all the deleted scenes and the extended Daybreak looking for some more piloty stuff. I kind of knew there wouldn't be anything new, but I still had to check it. I was hoping to find at least an extended cut of the goodbye scene. Silly me.
At least the extended scene from Islanded is beautiful and kind of makes the DVDs worth buying. And like you said, we can have Starbuck and Apollo back to back. Fake President Lee and Starbuck actually. ;)
And yes, all we got was the extended Islanded scene which is beautiful but I REALLY hoped for more from the goodbye scene. Luckily, I'm so cynical these days that I wasn't the least disappointed that there was nothing. I expected that.

I have been going through my memories because I really really really need some good Kara/Lee fic to read because my heart aches that I can't buy the 4.5 season and I'm currently re-watching season 2, so in order to stave off the HURT, I read fluffy fanfic. I don't know if you've read a lot of BSG fic, but I could totally give recs that can make your work day better.
Aw, sorry you're feeling the hurt. I, for the most part, have tried to move on from BSG and the finale hurt and have tried to focus on the good things about BSG. Every now and again it still hurts though. Like today in the car I was listening to my BSG season 4 soundtrack for the first time and the Daybreak disc's eleventh track is entitled simply "Kara Disappears." :( I don't know why, but that really depressed me.
I've only begun to read BSG fic in the last couple of months. I've really ebbed off of it lately though. Nothing really piques my interest. I read some or most of fahye, and stars_like_dust, some daphnaea, some latteaddict, and tamsibling, some spoonishly (which I noticed they wrote the fic you just recc'd, theyre awesome), some taragel, some mercurial_wit, some wisteria, and some really bad stuff on fanfiction.net :/.
