Vaccine Skeptics Vs Your Kids

In the last trimester of her pregnancy, Helena Moran caught a cough that she couldn't get rid of. She figured she'd picked up the germ-whatever it was-from one of her patients at a Boulder dentist's office. But the real nightmare began after her daughter, Evelina, was born: The baby began to cough and cough, and then ( Read more... )

yeah.. seattle is a boulder when it comes to that. I am so glad that Draven is all caught up on his shots and Kelly seems to know the dangers of not immunizing him..

The idiocy makes my face burn.

For example, the case of the stupid ass family that goes on a trip and nearly kills several infants less than 12 months old: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5708a3.htm

If an idiot thinks "Oh hey, I'm only responsible for my children" well guess what? If they play with a friend that gets the measles your kid can transmit it to anyone you contact. So you might not travel overseas, or do anything out of the ordinary, but when you take your kid to the doctor for that weird rash, you could kill every infant in the waiting room >:-(

Vaccination specialists at the CDC are very frustrated by this new trend. Most any doctor will tell you that the most important thing they can ever do for a child is vaccinate them. Think of all the kids in the 3rd world who's parents would give anything for the kind of protection some of these conspiracy theorists denounce.

I think American doctors give a little too many vaccinations at once, but I'm so glad they are there.

I agree that spacing out vaccines more could be a good thing.

A vaccine may very well have saved my life.

As I've mentioned before, I had meningitis when I was 20 years old. However, I have not expounded on that much. I will now.

Specifically, I had viral meningitis when I was 20. I was rushed to the hospital near my parents home in Jacksonville, NC during my fall break from UNC-Pembroke on October 11th, 2001. Six months to the DAY prior, I received the vaccine for bacterial meningitis. (No joke, my medical records show this to be true.) It guards against four of the five strains of the bacteria ( ... )

Thank god you got that vaccine! My neighbor died of same when she was 24, and left 2 little kids behind. Too bad she didn't get the vaccine herself :-(

It was a tough decision to make, because our college didn't offer the vaccine for free, and insurance didn't cover it because it was deemed as "elective, not necessary."

The shot, when I got it, cost about $90. I dare say that was ninety bucks well spent.

OH HAY 5 kids got sick maybe/maybe not from the vaccine! Even though millions of people have gotten the shot with no reaction and a study of 7000 showed no reaction THIS PROVES it's dangerous! DON'T VAX
