Lizzy could tell Nana was trying to be discrete, but the horror movie scream she let out as the younger girl dragged a damp cloth over her knee hadn’t failed to turn heads.
“We are in public,” Lizzys laughed, and Nana covered mouth, embarrassed.
“It really hurts,” she explained, though the fact had already been made obvious.
Lizzy dabbed antiseptic over the fresh scratches on Nana’s usually flawless skin, and Nana winced. “I know.”
She started to open a couple of small bandages pulled from her purse, but Nana grabbed her wrist before she could place them.
“Wait… Sooyoung, er… don’t you have anything different?”
Lizzy made a face. “Excuse me?”
“It’s just… It doesn’t look very charismatic to have Power Rangers on my knee…”
Then Lizzy moved her hands away with a small huff, genuinely offended, and Nana sighed.
“Never mind, go ahead. It’s fine, really. Thank you, Lizzy,” she said, and pinched her cheeks, then laughed when Lizzy shook away.
“Just for that, you can’t have a Red Ranger,” she muttered, but Nana only laughed harder as the bandages were positioned and pressed on with care.
And though Lizzy wiped the lip gloss from her forehead as soon as Nana pulled away-she had been caught off guard-she still offered her hand when they got up, not letting go even after Nana said she was perfectly fine to walk on her own.
