Poor M! No wonder why she has her grumpy cat face on! That is really beyond the pale re: gas F.U.B.A.R. but it doesn't surprise me at all. Despite your landlord's pervavsive uselessness, Enbridge is pathetic and usually doesn't respond to "priority" or "emergency" calls in a timely fashion unless you know someone who knows someone. I once had a furnace that wouldn't shut off (in a rental house) and it took them 4 hours to come out and shut it off ('cause it could have exploded) and then 3 WEEKS to come out with a replacement part so that we could turn it on again. This was in mid November and it was COLD. They only showed up because my boss at the time had a brother-in-law in the service department and she made a few calls.
I hope that this doesn't happen to you and that you and M. can enjoy heat and hot water soon.
M. is affixed to my leg. I have been deemed a sufficient hot water bottle for cats.
The landlord says that yesterday when he called again for an update, they claimed to have no record of us! So he freaked out and they sent someone to the house, who said, "Ah, you are not connected to the new gas main!" which was information we've had for FOUR DAYS. So this is NOT LOOKING GOOD.
Argh! This was my experience as well. The problem is that you THINK that you've made progress with someone on the phone but they are just customer service, not the service contractor (which, btw, Enbridge outsources to several different companies for an added layer of complexity). If you think that dealing with your engineers et al. is complicated, imagine playing phone tag with a service dept., independant contractors AND their individual workers dealing with the work orders.
The only way to get anything done is to rant up the food chain until someone shows up to shut you up.
Plus, they'll probably fuck up the billing for this period as well which will enrage your landlord further no doubt.
