That is the first considerate TTC operator story that I've ever heard. *nope, I don't think I'm being overdramatic. I think that statement's actually true...*

Ok- got another one for you. Grade 11 had a summer job near the airport. Took the bus from Kipling. The driver saw a man walking up an exit ramp from the highway with a gas can. He stopped, opened the door and waved him over. He refused to take a fare and continued on his route. He dropped the man as close as the route goes to a gas station and wrote him a note on a transfer so that when he had purchased gas he could take the other bus to return to his car.

wow. Other than the streetcar driver I met who serenaded the stops out to passengers, I've never really met a kind operator. The singing driver was reprimanded for his songs by head office when a prick customer found it disturbing - I know 'cause I saw the driver again and asked why he wasn't singing anymore. He looked sorta...deflated. Just goes to show that assholes are everywhere.

There also used to be the College car driver who knew all the regulars, when the girls lived at the College Rental and I used to visit often. Then I moved to the neighbourhood but further north. He actually stopped at Sorauren and turned and asked me if this wasn't my stop because he was concerned I'd miss it.

Growing up out bus driver knew everyone who took the Rosedale bus and a would stop anywhere (not just at stops) to pick people up.

The guy I mentioned out near the airport used to sing "It's a wonderful world" all the time.
