I always carry a proper camera about with me because Dundee is undergoing a major regeneration project, and I want to capture it while it's in progress. For that sort of daytime job, I just need a small camera like yours, but a large lens makes all the difference for night shots.

I find it strange that Birmingham has no public fireworks display when our much smaller city regularly puts on two. At last year's, we took sparklers with us, and not a single one of them lit.

It does have a public fireworks display, but it's a very large one in a big park. I was looking for something more intimate (even if the fireworks wouldn't be as good) as I feel quite removed from the action at these large council- organised events.

I know exactly what you mean. I was reminiscing about the ones we used to have at church, back in the day, where you could actually get close enhough to feel the heat of the bonfire and hear it crackle. Wonderful. It crossed my mind about having a bonfire/fireworks party for my bday next year...but it's probably not the best idea right next to a listed building! Might even be something about it being prohibited in the paperwork somewhere, can't remember.

I was thinking of the same thing ;) People on facebook mentioned going to displays at pubs etc, but none in Birmingham. Bonfire at yours sounds good :) Hopefully you'll be ok - I'm sure a small bonfire can't be much more dangerous than a barbecue if you've got a properly controlled area.

Yeah, I'm pleased with it - it's got a small scratch but if I'd have bought a new one I bet I would have scratched it myself within five minutes!

Hope you're feeling well after your recent health issues :)
