Continuing the madness...

I feel like the blackout time for grad school decisions is analogous to Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. I am Marlow, and the calendar between Jan 15-Apr. 15 is my river. Each week I plunge deeper and deeper into madness, as the solid ground of the final app due date has vanished from sight, and I cannot see what is in front of me. The admissions ( Read more... )

If they reject you, you should send them this post. No one who uses a Heart of Darkness analogy for this should be allowed to be rejected from grad school. Not English grad school, at any rate.

Hahaha, this is brilliant!!! *You* are brilliant and I am positive you will be accepted to a lot of amazing schools! The waiting sucks, but the acceptance letters will start rolling in eventually. How did your knee surgery go? Keep an eye on your mailbox.

Mmm, no, but I love poco. I'm in 20th Century Ethnic American lit. Actually, that's a question I'm interested in studying: can postcolonial criticism be applied to minority ethnic literature in America? Anyways, I digress...
