Well, colour me phobic...

Jul 16, 2002 16:10

It is not uncommon for most people to have at least one or two various phobias such as acrophobia, claustrophobia, nyctophobia, et al. I have all of those, but also some extra unusual ones which makes me the proud title bearer of the world's biggest wuss.

I am the only braveheart that I know of, who suffers from lepidophobia, or the fear of ( Read more... )

Hi There!

If I had been there, I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have been among those insensitive people who were half-heartedly chasing you, while also shaking with laughter...

I probably would have been rolling on the ground laughing, barely able to stand... :)

If it had been someone else mounted on that camel, yelling melodramatically like that; I'd have died laughing, too! But being laughed at made me fail to see the humour of the situation back then.

Hi There!!

Actually, my first instinct in a situation like that is usually to suddenly get the idea that I'm some sort of action hero and proceed to start running as fast as I could over open sand after a 1300-2200 pound even-toed ungulate in a vain attempt to save the beautiful damsel from imminent peril.

oh, wait, you were 10. Make that: "...save the innocent child from imminent peril in a vain attempt to impress her beautiful older sister/cousin/aunt/mother/etc.."

You should come out to New Jersey, so I could be your personal Camel protector. I'd make sure that NO Camels attack you while you were here.

And that goes for BUTTERFLIES, too! (that's a little tougher, because unlike Camels, we actually HAVE more than one butterfly per few million square miles in NJ. But I think I could probably take them.)

You're on your own with your nyctophobia though. Not much I can do to protect you from DARK. :

I can understand the camel thing although I do not share it...pretty much not afraid of much except bees/wasps things that sting...I am pretty claustrophic, and I have an unnatural fear of bicycles (bad accident as a child)...but butterflies? I'm certainly not one to mock, but can you explain further? I'll try to refrain from using the butterfly icon that I have in reserve...;)

I can't remember how I came to be so mortally scared of butterflies. Must have been an incident way early in childhood; neither of my parents were ever able to recollect it either.

Feel free to use your butterfly icon. As long as it's just a picture, I am fine with it. If a butterfly lands anywhere near me, I start hyperventilating. ;)

I can understand your situation with butterflies ... they don't scare me, but if I look closely at them they send a little shiver down my spine :/

Oh ... another note to add -- you are brave in telling us about your phobias!
