Yeah, I worked in Mission Viejo, which is just inland from there. (Yup, it's a 50 commute from LA -- I still don't know how I did that for 3.5 years!)

Local standards for "quite a drive" differ, but since I don't have a car either, more relevant is whether I could get a bus or a boat down and visit with you.

Boat wouldn't *ordinarily* be an option, but the Ocean Institute is at Dana Point, and the Maritime Institute I work at on Tuesdays sends a tallship down there every now and then; I can find out tomorrow if we've got one scheduled for this week.
