Oh, how lovely! Just the sort of story I hoped this prompt would generate. You've characterized Rolanda and Irma so well. I love so many of the lines:

for she was a quiet girl even outside the library
Oh, yes, I can definitely see this.

Never having a problem with bold moves herself
Excellent! Just how I see Rolanda.

‘It’s my favourite part of snow, when you open the door and it feels like you’re the first person to see the world.’
What a great, great line.

I like the detail of the magical present size, too.

I really enjoyed this -- charming and warm (even with the snow) and in perfect character. Thank you!

This is so sweet - I love how swiftly Irma comes into view as a whole person, for us along with Rolanda. And the line about the first sight of snow is absolutely perfect.

What a lovely little story. Both Irma and Rolanda are so sharply characterized - a quiet girl, indeed.
