This update is SO good! I love the family you've crafted for Dave and the depths you reach with them. The fact that she got along so well with his sisters is wonderful. I loved his mother-son dance, and the way he was so kind with Cheryl. I'm definitely looking forward to Part 3. :)

It's amazing to me that you can create this big huge crazy family and make it look so effortless. (I'll never tell how hard you worked) I really like this part - Dave with his mother, the sisters and Cheryl. I really like him holding her hand. Just so sweet and grown up. Rossi's anger and how she defuses it is marvelous. :D

And none of it would have happened if it weren't for you. You are beyond awesome.

Guh. You kill me with this fic. I love it so so much. Everything felt so natural, from his interactions with his mom and sisters, to the way Emily held her own with them. And the scene in the car at the end was just win. Can't wait for more!

*does happy dance* YAY! Thank you so much!

Everything felt so natural

I think that's one of the highest compliments you can give any writer, but especially a fanfic writer where we "see" the characters all the time and the readers know them.

I am so pleased you're enjoying it and grateful for the comments. Thank you so much!

Oh, I loved this chapter. You did a great job with the sister's and Dave's childhood. I can totally see him as the youngest and the only boy of a big Italian-American family (oh, that explains so much).

I really liked the addition of Cheryl and getting to see Uncle Dave - in canon, he does seem to have a flair for mentoring ambitious young women. I like the way you've incorporated that side of him.

I also like how you've tied in how he knows so much about teenage girlhood (Demonology, etc.) between his sisters and his neice.

Awesome job.

Thank you so much. I am really glad you liked the chapter.

Rossi is old fashioned in a lot of ways yet still all about women's rights and safety so it made sense to me that he grew up surrounded by women. I enjoyed giving him strong sisters who spoiled him.

I am grateful you took the time to read and comment. Thank you!

Oh my GOD, Ming. Please see the following conversation for incoherent flailing of squee.

Woj: I kind of love that it is in St. Michael's. Like, that's RIGHT HERE.
Smitty: She was looking for someplace on the Eastern Shore.
Woj: it's perfect!
Smitty: So Emily and Dave could drive there in a reasonable amount of time
Woj: it makes TOTAL sense. And people get married there all the time
also, I kind of love that Dave has a sore spot. Poor Rossi. cuddles him
(frivolously, Prentiss in red = win.)
ALSO OMG, I WANT TO MEET MAMA.
And this? "Yeah. I guess we're too far for you to jump out and walk back."
HEE
Smitty: He has WORRIES.
Woj: And then Emily stomps all over being nervous so he can't TELL.
VICIOUS DOLCE & GABBANA-CLAD WOLVES. WHEEZES
ROSSI IS SO PWNED
Smitty: That's maligning wolves.
Woj: FLUTTERING, STALKING WOLVES.
Oh my GOD.
I may have to close the office door.
A brown-eyed doe.
1) Awww. 2) I believe Rossi understestimates. :D
"I will hunt you down like a dog."
I HAVE TO GO CLOSE MY DOOR.
Smitty: hahaha, I will wait

Woj:And then this:
"She's also aware any reticence on her part is purely an act and, what's more, he knows it. It's no secret to anyone that her childhood was not filled with a lot of warmth. While she knows her parents loved her then and love her now, they're just not demonstrative people. Being an only child, always moving from one country to another, well, there was no time for her to create a family even if it had been something to occur to her.

She wouldn't say she was envious of Rossi's family exactly, but she's always been attracted to people with large families. Even though she never quite feels as though she belongs, she likes the warmth and the noise and the sense of closeness and belonging there seems to be at large family gatherings."
oh, Emily.
and this: "One of them spots him and the news of his arrival sweeps through the family in an almost comical wave."
Dies
I have SEEN that happen.
Okay, and this?
She can't help but be aware of Rossi beside her, his thigh nearly touching hers, his voice when he responds to the ( ... )

Woj: And this sentence is FABULOUS:
It takes a minute, then Emily doesn't even have time to wonder what her face must look like before Rosalie starts laughing. "That's the best deer in the headlights look I have ever seen."
AND THIS: Rosalie pats her hand. "I'm sure you are, Emily. Don't be so skittish. We're practically family."
Smitty: Rosalie is QUITE PLEASED with herself.
Woj: OH MY GOD, WATCHING HER WIND EMILY UP IS THE BEST THING EVER.
There's the eyebrow again. Rossi has nothing on his sister when it comes to facial expressions. "You were. But, it's good to know I can still inspire some good old fashioned anxiety in somebody's date. I was thinking I was losing my touch."Smitty: Did you notice Emily suddenly has no qualms about disbusing them of the notion she and Dave are together?
Woj: DIES
YES
Smitty: She's all, "wait, it's kill or be killed. I suddenly have no problem selling him out."
Woj: Threw him RIGHT UNDER THAT BUS, YES.
Oh, she was going to own him when this was over. No amount of good wine in the world - and ( ... )

Woj: "If you thought it was rude, then you probably shouldn't have sent your husband and mine to drag him off to enjoy a cigar." Francesca informs her older sister with a pointed look.

"Way to throw me under the bus, Fran." Sophia rolls her eyes. "Now Emily knows it was a set-up and Davey's not coming to her rescue."
I AM LAUGHING OUT LOUD.
EMILY. OH EMILY. ILU SO HARD.
Emily arches a brow. "Maybe I don't need rescuing."

The wolves that are the Rossi sisters, no matter what they're wearing, all look at her simultaneously. To their credit, it takes them almost thirty seconds to burst into laughter. "Like I said," Rosalie nods, "you're a brave one. Ladies?" The women raise their glasses and Emily follows. "To Emily." She tilts her glass, giving a wide, generous smile.
That was EXACTLY THE RIGHT ANSWER.
THEY TRADE STORIES.
Capslock is insufficient for my purposes.
"I'm changing the names." She gives him wide, innocent eyes.
falls over cackling
"Rose." Dave's voice is affectionate as he bends to kiss his sister's cheek. "Your idea of ( ... )
