Short version: despite the snow and chaos at Heathrow, aeshna_uk and I actually got to KL without too much trouble.

( 2010. Heathrow Airport is now a maximum security prison. Breaking out is impossible. Breaking in is insane. )

So there were mobs of people hanging around the gate who didn't even have flights that day?

How strange. Youd think they woudl have just gone home, or gone into town, or something.

You would think but I guess if you're desperate to get somewhere in time for Christmas, you'll do stupid things like vainly hanging around outside a terminal in the hopes of getting on a flight somehow?

Perhaps if there were hawkers selling cheap flights to anywhere on the side, but, it does seem a rather futile waste of energy.

Pretty much clear of snow in town, and temps are due to hit a balmy 8degC latter in the weekend.
