Mostly enjoyable week

Where did last week go? Huh.

Last Monday: met up in Holborn with megolas, dolores, jamjar and burntcopper for the latter's Birthday. Enjoyable evening of drinks and pizza. Figure any evening which includes discussion of the Giffen/DeMatteis run on Justice League International/Europe/etc can't be bad. Also picked up a rec for a promising sounding book: Snake Agent by Liz ( Read more... )

wtf, fencing, fan, books, tech, bsg, b7

I asked for a copy of Snake Agent at Christmas (which Santa obligingly delivered) on the basis of many recommendations. Not started it yet (I have a very large unread books pile), but it is high on the list to get to next.

I suppose that, since So Say We All is a collection of essays, I could always put it aside for a bit and start on Snake Agent instead...

It was good to see you at LOTNA, don't make it so long before your next visit next time :-)

"As an aside, I am struck by how similar some of the criticism of the new B7 audios sounds to the stuff that was flying around before new BSG aired ("unnecessary", "travesty" etc). Wow."

*sigh*
But at least there are people who will, y'know, actually listen to the audios before forming an opinion on them, as opposed to narrow-minded types who dismiss them after having read nothing more than a single press release...

OT - have you seen this? http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,91059-1246969,00.html

You may recall I've used the term "fundamentalist BSG fans"? Seems to me B7 has its own fundies emerging - I sometimes get the feeling that not being willing to condemn the new audios straight away immediately marks some of us as "the enemy". Man, and I thought *I* needed to get a life...

As for the article, it wasn't me. I would never be caught dead with a *Japanese* sword!

I've heard the terms "talifan" and "fandomentalist" used...

Now, the former I do especially like!
