Oh, I loved Claire from the very first moment in the earlier story and I'm so glad you wrote more about her and the extraordinary ordinariness of her life. She's quite possibly one of my favourite OCs ever. The stories are simply lovely, heartbreaking and hopeful in a quiet way. (Though I wouldn't mind seeing Claire meet McKay at some point - I think he'll come to appreciate her competence even while riling at the fact that her field is called library and information science. *g*) *smiles*

i'd like to see claire meet mckay sometime, as well -- maybe something set during "the return part 1" on sg:a -- because he totally, totally doesn't believe it's really a science, what she does, you're right. i'm so glad that you like her, and that you enjoyed this; thank you. :)

Oh, if you write Claire and Rodney during "The Return, Part 1", I'll adore you forever! Rodney's a great favourite of mine and I love Claire for so many reasons, not at least that I'm thinking about library school myself.

And I saw below that someone commented on your shout-out to PubMed, and I just have to say, I kind of squeed at that part too, because of fond memories of part of summer spent trolling PubMed for articles for a research project about genetic basis in case-mapping studies (and then the project got published and *I* was in PubMed, which was greatness in and of itself).

i make no promises at all, but i'll definitely mull it over. :)

i love PubMed like burning. *grin*

yeah. you know that i don't even watch SG-1, and I love love love Claire. Can I be her when I grow up?

also, i loved that PubMed made a cameo. How many database subscriptions do we think the SGC library has? I'm guessing lots and lots (maybe all of them), and this this why the Defense budget is so big.

You know that somewhere in the Pentagon, someone is going, "New Apache attack helicopter or ISI Web of Science?"

do you really think the pentagon is going to choose? i think they say, "Both".

because if you don't have web of science, how do you do the literature research to see what has been done before. but if you wanted a database about engineering the helicopters...i'd go with something like IEEE. and the cost for these databases (while a lot) is probably not quite the same as a $14.5 million dollar helicopter.

at least...i don't THINK it is.

claire keeps ordering more and more databases, and when jack was still at the sgc, he just shrugged and signed off, but landry makes her justify it. :)

i'm glad you like claire; i like writing her! thank you so much, darling.

Oh, Claire. Yes.

(And now the reference part of my brain is mulling over where to look for info on twelfth-century France.)

fact: all the subjects daniel has claire track down info about, they're all just totally randomly pulled out of my head. *grin*

thank you so much, hon.

Oh, I love this! Still awesome in the way that the first one was--the slightly more mundane (although nothing ever can be) perspective of the SGC, and her own unique problems.

I totally volunteer to be the person in charge of the artifacts. Really, she shouldn't stack the bowls like that.

I mean: AWESOME.

Oh!

Somehow I never saw the first of these, but the rec for this one came up on my flist, and so I had to read it all, and just ::flail:: how awesome this is!

I love that Claire is smart and savvy and yet ignorant and knows it and likes these people but isn't best buddies with them, and there's all this stuff going on and she's still mostly on the outside. These are wonderful.

(Also? Go UMass! *grin*)

Although now I'm thinking that what they need in addition to a librarian is a curator, man. Someone who knows curatorial standards for artifact preservation and cataloguing of same. *grin*

oh, i'm so glad you enjoyed this, and the other -- claire has definitely been a learning experience for me, both trying to figure out the role of someone other than sg-1 in the sgc, and as my first real OC. it makes me thrilled to know that you enjoyed this; thank you so, so much.

(yes, you're right, they totally need a curator -- but i don't know anything about curation, whereas i know a lot about being a librarian. *grin*)
