YOU WIN AT CUT TEXT.

one of my sorority sisters stormed out of the room the night that the rest of us were talking about titanic. we'd ruined the end for her, she later explained. no, not that leo died. that the boat sunk.

please feel free to imagine me making flailing arms of incoherent buh at your erstwhile theatre companion.

we were APPALLED at this man. i mean. if he had been younger, maybe, maybe i would have forgiven the lack of knowledge owing to not having been alive when rfk was killed, BUT. HE WAS NOT. he was VERY MUCH old enough to have been both alive and conscious of the world at large when rfk was shot. AND YET.

people are dumb, ceecakes. it shocks me sometimes. i suppose i should stop being shocked, sigh.

sunk? sank? sinked? i've been reading anne rice lately, because i hate myself, and i forgot how much i was annoyed by the affectation where she uses "lighted" all the time, even in places where it would've sounded much better to say "lit."

listen, sweet potato. people are less dumb and more... willfully ignorant. if someone don't want to know, no amount of telling them is going to help. so how much energy you choose to expend on them is up to you, but my advice is very little.

sank, i think. it sank, or it was sunk. maybe. now i'm not sure.

i know, i know. i just ... want to believe better of the world, i suppose. *sigh* i should stop wasting my energy, because it gets tiring and, as you point out, such efforts are often fruitless.

dean's expression in your icon fits my feelings exactly.

michael's parents weren't wild about it, but michael and i both loved it -- i thought that emilio did a really fantastic job with the subject material, despite the movie's few flaws. it's not perfect by any means but it is definitely a worthy representative of the subject material, imho.

seriously? bobby kennedy's assassination was news to someone.

man, ignorance like that always explains more about american politics than i would like it to.

i just realized how awfully u.s.-centric that cut tag sounds, and i'm appalled with MYSELF for being so my-country-is-the-only-country in re: general historical knowledge. people from other countries absolutely shouldn't be expected to know anything about bobby kennedy's assassination (although i stand by the fact that it's history, not a spoiler) and i should not have painted everyone in the world who didn't know about it with the same brush. jesus. i suck today.

but, yes, like cee says above -- willful ignorance on the part of the american public (in this specific case), perhaps. and it is a little sad. and a little scary.

OMG the first clip is hilarious! (Haven't watched the second one yet.)

And yes! The Return pt 2! There was so much love!

Though, wow, they really make Landry an ass on Atlantis. I mean, I see his point and all, but does he have to be such a jerk about it?

john barrowman's reaction in that first clip just KILLS me. i adore him.

well, you know -- i mean, john defied direct orders and took a bunch of important people with him. so landry certainly has the platform to stand on, but -- i like him. i don't want him to be an ass!
