The scenes with Danny almost managed to ease the pain of the scenes between Josh and CJ. It's like, every interaction between the two of them contains the ghost of their friendly banter, but is sharpened to a point. It's PAINFUL. But DANNY! OMG. Danny and the fish and his nervousness and OMG I'm so glad they're getting round to this again.
Also, now I want to see Glory Road immediately. I may have to go tomorrow night.
i hadn't realized how much cj/danny is my het otp of all time until this week, and it makes me so happy that they're going back there. it almost eases the pain of no sam and the continuing wretch of josh/donna. yes.
glory road blew me away. and maybe it's not for everyone, but i think that your boston college hating ass will enjoy it just fine. also, it kind of made me want icons of josh lucas as don haskins, so i have to go deal with that now.
have you SEEN BC's gym, yo? it's like playing in a high school girl's gym. when you put that up against cameron indoor at duke and u-hall at virginia and the dean dome at carolina, BC doesn't even bring in a fucking wretch home court advantage, yo.
Driving home I remembered Richardson and his lawsuit and that he didn't leave by choice. Funny that we both forgot that. I'd rather my memory recall the story of Richardson helping Haskins unpack his bags than how Richardson ended.
40 years after that game and the first black player in the ACC and 20 years after the first black ACC coach (both firsts by Maryland), an even half of the ACCs 12 coaches are black. (Using ACC stats because I know them best and because it is the highest number in the major conferences.) Sometimes it is hard to pinpoint exact moments that changed a world but I don't know where sport would be without that game, and I don't want to know.
When the players started talking in the credits everyone left in the theater, everyone including the kids, just stopped and watched. It was amazing and beautiful.
god, i'd forgotten about the lawsuit - even though i hated that arkansas team that won, he was a good coach. he was kind of shitty when it came to judging the character of his players, but he was a good coach. i'd rather think about him helping haskins with his bags, too.
i was telling my mom about the tubby smith thing at the end of the movie and i burst into tears again. then my mother told me all about how kentucky's kind of shitty this year and i felt better. *sheepish*
