god, joe flanigan is so fucking hot i cannot even believe it.

YES!!!

I love your reactions to this show. I swear, I had to watch the episodes two or three times to get beyond demented dolphin squeaks.

But you are a VERY CUTE demented dolphin, so it's okay!

and rodney's melodrama! his smug immodesty! his notecards! talking about short haired blondes! his message to sam carter! his hilarious discussion about his cat! TALKING TO HIS SISTER. I CRIED LIKE A BABY.

That is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series. David Hewlett is SO amazing in that episode. I think that's the one ep where Rodney is my favorite even over John, simply because DH sells that whole camera sequence so hard.

i love john sheppard liek whoa, but i had never believed i could love a character as much as i loved rodney (and DH by extension) in that episode. it blew me away, simply put. DH was amazing.

Your recaps make me laugh because they are so true. <3.

Although, now I'm suffering from flashbacks to first year with the mention of aacr2. aka: the horrible red book of *doom*. I hope you don't have the DDS set lying around too as the pain would be too hard to take.

uh, and continuing on the unrelated themes - what key texts on digital preservation would you recommend?

my shameful secret: i love cataloging. i love my aacr2. and i spent about a week earlier in the semester trying to figure out how to steal a set of dewey schedules from the library so i could keep them for my very own.

... hi. nice to meet you. i'm a cataloger. *grin*

and i just finished an annotated bibliography on digital preservation! so i can tell you the ones i recommend are:

preserving digital information: a how-to-do-it manual by gregory hunter (hunter's written another one, the title of which i cannot remember, but it's also excellent)
preservation in the digital world by paul conway
digital preservation and metadata: history, theory, practice: by susan s. lazinger.

i also have a massive list of journal articles that i can email you if you want. :)

Heh heh heh. I'm a wannabe archivist. In all but degree (although, my dissertation is on archiving on the internet/fandom). I think I would have liked the aacr2 better in my first year if the lecture that dealt with it wsn't a)the morning after my stupid night shift and b) wasn't taught by the world's oldest and very technophobic lecturer. Plus, I almost lost hair trying to classify a book called something like 'vegetarism and its links to oral sadism' as part of my coursework. Never did manage to crack that one.

I've just never been able to take the DDS seriously since I learn that dear Dewey was one of those wacky 'no extra vowels!' people and released the..16? maybe 17th edition written completely with no extra vowels. Also, he was called Melvil. ahahahahaha. (also, it's running out of numbers)

Oooh, those books look great. Cheers for that! And I so wouldn't say no to the journal articles.

john and rodney in their t-shirts, john's feet on the desk, theorizing. omg. i love them so much. they're just ... they're like dan and casey, only in SPACE. and everything is better IN SPACE.

I FEEL IT IS MY DUTY TO INFORM YOU THAT I HAVE ANALYZED SCREENCAPS OF THIS SCENE, AND THEIR TRICEPS ARE TOUCHING. THAT IS ALL.
