what shows were cancelled that you wailed and gnashed your teeth over?

Homicide (even though I tend to agree that by S7 it had, indeed, jumped the shark. Still. Best TV Show Ever.

Firefly

Miracles

Boomtown

It was so good and quirky and cute! I was honestly bereft when they announced it was cancelled.

1)Sports Night-
I completely agree. Amazing show with amazing dialogue and characters I cared about. I actually just got my dvd set of this series shipped yesterday so I'm happy.

2)Dead Like Me-
Humour and death is a very good combination. I love Georgia's snarkiness, the snarkiness of the other characters, and how they make even the most morbid things funny or touching.

3)Freaks and Geeks-
Yeah, I didn't watch this show as much as I should have when it was on. Most realistic portrayal of high school out there. The outcasts, the cliques, the people that didn't fit into the usual mold.

4) My So Called Life-
Because, well, I WAS Angela Chase at the time it aired. Well, I didn't have the hot boyfriend or the best friend but those thoughts were very similar to my own.

5)Firefly-
Why,oh why, do Joss Whedon shows get cancelled? It was such an original idea to have all of this humour set within a futuristic setting. And, amazing dialogue and characters I wanted to embrace. and and and..

i am totally embarrassed that i forgot both "my so called life" and "firefly", except that i watched neither when they originally aired and thus can be excused.

we just got digital cable and one of our new channels airs "my so called life". the tivo and i are QUITE PLEASED by this.

best objectively or favorite?

ah, i'm going with favorite

- strange luck. was on fox on friday night at eight, right before the x-files. d.b. sweeney played a guy with, well, strange luck.

- kindred: the embraced. based on the vampire role playing game. i always wondered if fox wanted to can it anyway or if they did because mark frankel died. :\

um.

*thinks*

surely i have more than two.

it was a very very groovy show. did you ever see the x-files episode the goldberg variation? about circuits of inevitabilty? it was sort of like that.

plus, d.b. sweeney.

1. The Fast Lane. You've never heard of this, as it was an Australian show about bumbling private detectives in 1986 and 1987. But it was damn funny and cancelled after endless fights between the writers and the ABC over rights. Never repeated, never appeared on VHS or DVD, lives on only in my increasingly decrepit tapes of five episodes from the second season.

2. Futurama. What you said. On the other hand, it finished strong, unlike the Simpsons.

3. NHL on ESPN. *sob*

4. Dragnet. The whole Ed O'Neill as disturbed, deadpan cop thing was awesome and scary. This was the best crime show on tv while it was on, and about six people even noticed.

5. [insert name of clever, interesting SF show here]

i can't believe that you're the first person to mention the nhl being cancelled. so sad. i was just thinking the other day, man, i wish there was hockey on. and there wasn't! and there hadn't been! fucking tragedy, man.

i think that this last season of simpsons had some episodes that were definitely solid, strong even, more so than the year before. but yeah, futurama went out on top, the star trek episode delivers the second best fuck-you-for-cancelling-us parting shot ever aired on television, and yeah. i wish there was more.
