Me? I'm good. Not at work - woo, federal holidays! - and it's sunny and cool and I get to go spend money on books later, so I really can't complain. What about you, my Pique? How are you?

Oh yes! You get a long weekend this weekend. We had one last weekend so sadly, I'm at work. But, happily, I'm not doing a blessed thing. I spent all morning cleaning up my mp3 files and generally screwing the pooch, and I'm just about to go out for lunch. And go to the library maybe. Or the bookstore if I'm feeling naughty.

Can you rec me a book? I need something really good to read.

The last three things that I adored were: The Bone People, by Keri Hulme, which is set in New Zealand and focuses a great deal on Maori culture, and is gut-wrenching and traumatic, but gorgeous; Lamb: The Gospel According To Christ's Childhood Pal Biff, by Christopher Moore, which is laugh-out-loud-in-public-places funny; and Daughter of the Forest, by Juliet Marillier, which is a retelling of The Wild Swans fairytale set in ancient Britain and is slow to start but after the first 75 pages or so, absolutely wonderful.

Michael says I read too much. To which I say, "Pshaw. You can't possibly read too much."
