Your uncle sounds like he needs a reality check and I can understand you not trusting the doctor. It takes a lot to gain trust and he hasn't done much.

Thanks. Mom is going to question the family doc tomorrow. It's down to either he has no idea what he's talking about or else there is something else going on that he won't tell us.

I am so sorry all this is going so poorly. That doctor...have you thought about reporting him to the provincial medical board? Certainly in the case of your melanoma (a very dangerous cancer), you have him dead in your sights. I'm not impressed by his competence.

How about getting a second opinion on your grandmother, in the hope of better pain management? Whatever other steps are taken, she should be made comfortable.

The on-call doc saw her this morning and said that there is NO obstruction in her bowel, that it is not leaking or perforated. Mom is staying again tonight and will 'question' the family doc tomorrow.

Omigod. I assume that you trust the house doc over the family physician? He's an incompetent jerk. Where is he getting his opinions from - is his goal to make a serious situation look even worse?

I hope to hell you yourself aren't ever going back to him. I wouldn't let him care for a hangnail. FanSee

For a while now, I've been saying that things my old doc has been saying about Nan's condition haven't added up. Regardless of what's going on, we need to know if this is going to happen soon....although the nurse said much more than a week would be overly optinisit.

When i see my new (wonderful) family doc next week, i'm supposed to see if she will take my mom, dad and sister. I will not see the old doc ever again for treatment.
