Your Grandfather fansee March 18 2010, 01:59:31 UTC
You are so lucky to have known your grandfather when you were a young adult. One of my grandfathers died a decade before I was born; the last time I saw my other grandfather I was almost five. We moved that year, and I never saw him or my father's mother again. I did see my mother's mother when she was in her 90s. She had Altzheimer's and had, of course, no idea who I was. I envy you.

The poem is beyond wonderful. It leaves me feeling I know your grandfather just a little bit. FanSee

I couldn't imagine growing up without both my grandfathers in my life. Looking back, it's amazing how much both them influenced me.

That's a beautiful poem.

I remember the day that my grandfather died as well; it still brings tears to my eyes when I think about it. He'd been sick for a long time so I thought I was prepared for it but when I got off of the phone with my sister, who was the one that told me my grandpa had passed away, I just totally broke down.

I guess what I'm saying is that I can totally sympathize with you.

*hugs right back* I was babysitting. I remember looking out the window and seeing mom and dad's car driving down the road towards the house and turning and saying to the kids 'i wonder if they'd bring us a pizza for dinner"

I still cry...

I know it's hard, Mindy. Just remember all those good times. Your grandfather must have been a very special man to be remembered like this.

He was the best. I mean, sure he had his flaws but that's what made him, him. I saw him at least once a day, if not more.
