I agree that it was a monstrous act, but you surprise me - I would hae thought you would be in sympathy with Greenpeace's goals, if not their methods.

So? It's the methods that make a criminal, not the goals. Greenpeace mostly comes to my attention when its members are committing a crime, and I wasn't impressed by the response to this case. I admit I haven't studied them thoroughly, maybe I was unfair, but my impression is of their being the PETA of environmentalism. Looking at Wikipedia, they may have done some good, but there's also been past incidents of theft and vandalism, and I doubt I agree with all of their goals or reasonings.

OTOH I'm reminded they've also been subject to state terrorism and murder.
