LOL! That sounds similar to my attempted discussions about religion with my kids.

Hee! They are a trip. I am sure his knowledge of Zeus comes from a dubious source. We were not reading mythology. We were actually reading Calvin and Hobbes!

Hee!

Min, you must get him D'Aulaire's Book of Greek Myths if he doesn't already have it. I know, I know: it's dubious stuff, all-powerful white men running around impregnating women in a shower of gold, etc., but it really is the best kids book ever. I think he's the right age for it. M.

P.S. Really! I say this as someone who last gave a kid an illustrated biography of Cesar Chavez. *sheepish* It's good.

:), Hiya, M!

Oh, that does look good. Yeah, there is all that stuff, but it is all around him, so planned opportunities to talk about it while reading really cool stories are all good.

That Cesar Chavez book it great. We don't own it, but have taken it out of the library. :)

What were you reading, and how old's the kid?

Sounds like a kid conversation.

We were reading Calvin and Hobbes, after reading James and the Giant Peach. He's just 9. I have lots of kid conversations. :)

I've never read James and the Giant Peach. I have several cousins around that age, and I can't believe some of the stuff they come up with.

James and the Giant Peach is great. The kid loves pretty much any Roald Dahl. Yes, they are all lunatics, from about 2 until who knows when. Completely insane. :)

*blushes at icon* I'm sure you weren't reading that!

Kids are so awesome because they have no filter.

LOL, no! We were reading Calvin and Hobbes (after having read James and the Giant Peach). And he has even less filter than some. :)

They really do make the day brighter, don't they? And then, other days, you wonder what the hell you were thinking. :)
