You know, I have never heard the Emergency Alert System be used before? I heard the signal, and thought it was a test, and then I twigged: we were in the middle of a piece of music, and there was someone talking. It was being activated under Levi's Call, a program to help stop child abduction by issuing statewide notifications. Here's the text from Channel 11:

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has activated a Levi's Call, Georgia's Amber Alert, at the request of the Perry Police Department.

It has been reported that Jalynn Nevaeh Blount, a white, female infant, 2 months old, dob 04/20/06, 2 ft. tall, 10 lbs, brown hair and eyes, has been abducted. She was last seen wearing a blue and white onezee with a picture of a giraffe.

She was abducted on Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 8:30am by Russel Horton, aka "Rusty". He is a white male, 37 years od, dob 02/05/69, 6ft. tall, 200 lbs, short, red hair wearing a white t-shirt and khaki shorts.

They were last seen at 1101 Park Avenue in Perry, GA, the travel direction is unknown. They are traveling in a 2004 Dodge Intrepid, light blue, tag AKQ 7600.

Anyone with information that may help authorities locate little Jalynn is asked to call the Perry Police Department at 478-542-2000, or to dial 911.

The radio alert added that they are believed to be heading down to Florida, though they could be going up here to Atlanta. Those of you who live in Atlanta or south of it, watch out, please!
